Our campsite at Cathedral Lakes after one of our most challenging days on the trail, with almost 100% snow cover following the trail was next to impossible and you never really knew if the footprints you were following you would lead you in the right direction or get you helplessly lost, luckily between following the right ones and blazing parts of our own (minus an accidental 2 hour detour) we made it to camp, where we were periodically greeted by hikers who followed our tracks to our location, we spent the night at camp with two pretty cool dudes from Texas while the Frenchmen from another group decided to continue on, and I’m honestly not sure what happened to the Koreans that came after, all in all this was a spectacular spot to close out a stressful and tiring day early on in the trail #johnmuirtrail#yosemite#reiprinceton#cathedrallakes#backpacking
Cleaning the house when I came upon a herd of bikes grazing in my living room. There are an additional two and a half bikes in the bedroom, they are more reclusive. #bikes#reiemployee#reiprinceton#n +1
Lockport is famous for the "Flight of Five Locks " that needed to cover a 60 feet drop within 550 feet in the Enlarged Erie Canal Era. It currently boasts a double modern lock by its side. The etching in the handrail was from rope that was used to guide the boats (where my climbers at?).
Finding ice cream on this trip has been pretty hard. It's my usual ritual while biking but with the weather being cold a lot of ice cream parlors closed for the season up here. To my luck, I find this gem right off the trail, so of course I had to stop! I bump into these lovely 70 years young women, Joan and Kathy, (the bright yellow shirt under the porch) who share my philosophy who bike 7 miles out for this place every week! They even treated me to a sundae after hearing my plight and my Erie Canal Journey. I wanted to take a picture with them but my phone died after this shot and didn't swap out batteries in time. Then wanted to do a selfie bike picture when I caught up with them on the trail (it was a big sundae), but I never did! You ladies are my kind of #forceofnature !
