The solid wood furniture that is @hkliving is just one of the reasons I love their designs! You can never have too much natural rustic beauty and warmth in your modern, I say 💚 #interiordesign#designinspiration#hkliving
Despite the rainy, stormy, weather we have a decent lake view right about now, which we're enjoying even if it is temporary. I don't think RVing was even an option we were considering back when we built these shelves, and I was dreaming of our "someday" lake view. Now I can only imagine the many lake views we'll enjoy from our tiny home on wheels. 🚎Funny how things unfold sometimes, eh?
Well because I needed another project😂😂😂I decided to redo my kitchen table this weekend. The old sealant performed horribly. It was peeling like crazy which lead to exposed wood and eventually water damage(because it's a kitchen table and kids spill). After hours of chiseling off the old sealant (I seriously had to use a chisel because sanding wasn't working on the sealant and I didn't want to use a chemical on the pretty wood or around my kids), sanding off some of the finish/stain, giving the wood a good cleaning, I was finally able to try a new staining technique. I kinda love how it turn out. I wanted it to still be rustic but elegant and durable. After giving the stain adequate time to soak in and dry I decided to coat the table with a lacquer spray. I have used a lacquer spray in the past and it holds up so well. Total toddler/boy proof. Well long story short my table is finally done and back in the house and I love it just as much as the day we brought it home. Ready for many more years of use. .
My guest bedroom/office is one of my favorite spaces in my house. I decided to paint the window wall this deep gunmetal gray and YOWZA the pine trees pop now. This room feels so dreamy and calm and I'm amazed at the difference a few minor changes made. And how cute is this nightstand set up for guests?! The table was my great grandmothers and is large enough to hold all the pretty things plus whatever the guest brings. The basket below will be filled with water and snacks for their stay. I also thought it would be fun to leave a message for our guests in the little birdhouse along with the wifi passcode. I love mixing found things in when I accessorize; I feel it gives the space a story and sense of curiosity. The rocks and petrified wood are from various hikes my husband and I have taken together. Who wants to be my guest?!?! #howyouhome#bemyguest
It hasn't been easy, but this little place is beginning to feel like home!!! We've most certainly come a long way since the fuchsia-colored baseboard trim, mustard-brown walls and ceilings, sporadic bull-head tile, and unfinished floors—needless to say I need a wine night! #🏠
