ALIGN YOUR 💩!!! The purpose of this exercise is to increase your awareness🧠 of your foot, ankle, knee, and hip alignment and to realize that they can all move separately💔 from each other or together🔀. .

If you have #kneepain, #footpain, #anklepain, or #hippain, we guarantee that there is something off 🚫with your ankle/knee alignment. Practice moving JUST the knee back and forth ↔️without the foot/ankle moving… this is tough!🤬 Then, practice rolling the ankle back and forth ↔️without the knee moving. After you get control of each of them individually, move them together. Notice that when you squat🏋️‍♀️, lunge🤺, deadlift, bridge, etc, you want to keep this “outward rotation” of the knee and ankle in each of the movements. This alignment allows the knee cap to track properly and engage the muscles of the foot, shin, thigh, and hip efficiently. As they get stronger, your knee will start to stay in the proper position when doing fast movements like running🏃‍♂️, jumping🤾‍♀️, walking🚶‍♀️, swimming🏊‍♂️, surfing🏄‍♂️ etc.

Over the past 15 years I’ve seen such a movement towards being healthy and functional training. Even more so a surge in online coaching. At the heart of it, it makes me so happy to see people doing what they love and people’s lives changing for the better. However, with my experience in training, rehab and manual therapy I’ve also seen my fair share of exercise induced injuries and injuries that could have been prevented. This very much so includes exercises done with good intentions!  Just as if someone told you it’s ok to cross the road but you see vehicles zooming by, you have to make the right decision. Pause and think, am I doing this correctly, am I being shown the right way. Just because one looks healthy or has a look you want to achieve or gives a plan does not make it the right way for you all the time. There is a reason why we have education systems in place for #exercisescience, #athletictraining and #physicaltherapy. This is truly important to your well being as well as the results you want to attain. Supinated Ring Triceps Extensions. Got strong triceps? Try this body weight exercise for size. This movement trains a functional arm to core connection by engaging an open chain triceps extension, while isometrically contracting the spinal erectors and hip extensors. Yes, this will essentially light up your whole back side, hams, glutes, lower back, upper back, posterior shoulder and triceps of course.

To do these properly, set the rings or TRX suspension low enough so that when you take a few steps back, the arms start off straightened at the side of the body, holding with a supinated grip. Stand tall in neutral and hold your posture strong throughout the exercise, without any movement in the core or hips. Begin by bending the elbows with eccentric control, allowing the body to lean back as you pivot on the heels. Then straighten the elbows back through a concentric contraction, righting the body back up. Notice, the only real movement in the body is in the elbows bending from extension to flexion, and back. The closer forward you stand near the anchor point of the rings/TRX, the harder the exercise. The further away you stand the easier, so choose your difficulty level. Supination in the hands aim to target more of the lateral head of the triceps, but if this is too difficult, a pronated grip can be used. Myofascial release is a manipulative treatment that attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body. Points of restriction in the fascia can place a great deal of pressure on nerves and muscles causing chronic pain.
Practitioners of myofascial release employ long stretching strokes meant to balance tissue and muscle mechanics and improve joint range of motion in order to relieve pain.

Thank you all gor getting us those 2k likes and over 150 friend tags yesterday.  As promised, here is a tutorial to help you with your shoulder mobility. 
In this video, we put our focus on breaking fascia adhesions on the lats.  Why the lats?  They tend to hold the shoulder in a hyperextended and internally rotated state.  This fixation at the shoulder joint will prevent them from performing extension at the shoulder from a flexed position.  Attacking the distortions on this point will help reset the position of these tissues.

On my way up slowly except this time, I’m aiming for great body mechanics, owning this motor pattern , and progressive overload without sacrificing form. I’ve learned the hard way due to my personal ignorance and pride (thinking I can somewhat treat myself) which put me out for a very long time. Lesson learned 🙂. One thing I would advice myself two years ago is to pursue education from an expert or pursue a movement specialist ( physical therapist ) that can teach you to move the most optimal way YOUR individual body is built 🤙🏽.
