When we were in process of buying the house I told my husband we can just throw some paint up and move in no big deal (in my defense we only saw the house one time and it was a quick visit) so by the time we got the keys I had forgotten what it looked like inside.... and that’s when the demo started 😬
We started to notice the hidden gems of the house like... high ceilings covered by a lovely drop ceiling
Shiplap yes I said it SHIPLAP the whole house under all the wallpaper and old newspaper you can think of was that beloved shiplap
The original doors and molding in the back garage
And the list goes on... needless to say we didn’t just paint and move in
If you know me and have been paying attention, you know commercial construction is low on the list of my favorite things. But it seems that we get one job per year that fits our business and I end up secretly loving it and the owners always call back for cool little projects down the road. This particular job we did in 2014, where we took an old tavern built in the 1700’s and turned it into an office building. This is the old bar, now a lunch room and we just went back a built a bunch of custom cabinets in and around the bar to complement the existing bar room feel. Yes, we kept the beer taps (cause Christmas parties need those right?)
After I posted a pic of my desk last week, I’ve had some requests for a shot of our whole office. This space was our tiny living room for 7 years before we remodeled. Hubs built the desk and shelves from roughcut pine and pipe, and the original wood floors were hiding under the carpet. Swipe to see this room in all its Berber-carpet glory back in 2008 right after we moved in. Thank goodness my decorating style has matured a bit since then. 😳

I know you haven’t heard from me in a while. That’s because there hasn’t been much progress lately😭 Last week (between cold fronts) we did a little outdoor clean up. There was one particular spot (where a small structure once stood) that became a pretty serious junk pile after its collapse. Within that junk pile was enough scrap metal to justify a trip to the metal yard INSTEAD of the dump. Weird they paid ME $40 to get rid of stuff instead of me paying THEM! Haha!
Business Tip: Direct mail marketing can lead to great returns for your business. Statistical data shows it gives better return than most marketing strategies
Atlantis Construction sent out 1000 mailers which were all hand addressed placed into white envelopes to add a personal feel to the mail. This alone provides your targeted clients with an emotional attachment to their mail leading to better returns! Hopefully the data is right cause our hands hurt 😬
Started laying down some raw red oak yesterday while waiting on inspections. Always start in the middle of the room and screw down a cleat to keep her straight. Love my domino to tie into the old. Can’t wait to get this yellow existing floor sanded down. #remodeling#hardwoodfloors#carpenter#buffaloremodeling
Deck and patio project we wrapped up a few months ago in Fairfax, VA. This project turned a small back yard into a great space to relax on entertain. It will also be very low maintenance, and now there’s no grass to mow! Decking is Trex Island Mist. Rail is Wolf Designer.

I've been in the flooring industry for a long time and have heard countless stories of, "ALL of this started because we just wanted to move a window". They say the most expensive words are "while we're at it" 😉
Well! I'm here to tell ya....that vortex is REAL!😯 All of this started New Years day.
I smudged my house with cleansing oils and soon had this overwhelming urge to clean and purge my home office. Couple that with the energy work I've participated in for the last two weeks......and the next thing I know, it's 2 AM and I'm ripping ALL of the remaining carpet out of my house! 😂 And it felt soooooo goood!!!! I knew this hardwood was under there, I just didn't know what kind of shape it was in. The only thing nastier than finding the carpet pad full of stains.....is realizing that none of them are YOURS! 😨
You can bet I'm diffusing Purify to clear the air of the yuckiness that got stirred up from all the commotion and any negative energy trapped under that carpet.
