Nephrology is a wonderful sphere of medicine to specialize in. It is an area that impacts many lives for the better. One of the heroes that works in this field is Dr Peter Mundel. Below is a little bit about him

Humans of NephCure: Dr. Peter Mundel, Kidney Disease Researcher
"It’s a humbling experience. It’s very humbling that I had the privilege to have an impact on someone’s life. Because you see, I’m an MD by training, but after medical school I have only done research. But indirectly I act like a physician—I don’t treat this patient myself, but because of my work, she now has a better life, and I’m very happy for her.
For all of our patients at NephCure that we care about with FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome, I think this research is a beacon of hope."

Early morning knitting. Last night I had the worst hand cramps...like my hands contorted to what I call lobster hands so I had to take it easy...bah! Today I’m feeling all “Eye of the Tiger” and ambitiously vowed to finish the front of this piece before work. Hahahahahaha! #amknitting#renaldiseasesucks#renaldisease#newnormal#idontlikeit
Logan is such an inspiration. His courage at a young age💪❤️ #Repost @nephcure (@get_repost)
Humans of NephCure: Logan
Logan was 7 years old when he was rushed to the emergency room with vomiting and excruciating stomach pain. Within an hour of arriving, his mother learned that his kidneys had completely failed. He had 12 pounds of fluid in his stomach, infiltrating his lungs, and fluid was collecting in his legs, feet, lower back and arms. His blood pressure and cholesterol were sky high.
This is when Logan’s parents first learned their son has Nephrotic Syndrome.
Today, Logan is in remission and has been since January. Logan and his family know that his kidneys can fail at any moment, so he lives every day to the fullest, playing ball, fishing and enjoying video games with friends. He is an inspiration to his family who pray for his health and happiness every day.

Excellent advice from @world_kidney_day_official on eating to maximize heart and kidney health. Clean eating is easily the most powerful way to prevent and help treat kidney and other health problems.

Having a right diet is very important for kidney patients.
1. Choose and prepare foods with less salt and sodium
2. Choose foods that are healthy for your heart
Keeping your heart healthy can protect kidneys and improve your overall health. Heart-healthy foods include lean cuts of meat, poultry with no skin, fish, beans, vegetables, fruits and low-fat or fat-free milk, yogurt, and cheese.
3. Eat the right amount and the right types of protein
4. Choose foods and drinks with less phosphorus
5. Choose foods with the right amount of potassium

Apakah punca utama kerosakan buah pinggang?
Let's take a look at the basic operations of the kidney .
Dirty blood enters via the renal artery . The blood is then filtered for toxins , waste ,excess water and oxygen where it exits via the renal back to the rest of the body .
Next in our series of foods damaging to kidney health is :
2: Processed/dried meats .
This refers to bacon, deli meats , sausages etc. Studies show that regular consumption of these types of meats places excessive strain on the kidneys due to high sodium content . They could also lead to some forms of cancer and high blood pressure . Alternatives would be unprocessed meats like fresh beef , chicken and fish in controlled amounts . Regular in this case is defined as at least twice a week consistently for a minimum of 3 months . #renomed#renal#renalfailure#renaldisease
FOSTER HOME NEEDED
Louie would really prefer to be in a home right now to help him feel better. This sweet old man love cuddles and attention and is missing the home life he once had. A nice home with attention is just what the Dr. suggests to help us battle his renal disease.
Currently, Louie is not on meds, just a specific medical canned food.
He needs a quiet, foster home with no animals or small children.
We appreciate your consideration!! If able to help please email email@example.com
#FarrahFact : "Find something you LOVE to do, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Notice I put that in quotes. While this holds true, anything worth having, is going to require work. Constant work. But, the work might as well be fun, right?
I had the best time over the past couple of weeks working with Dr. Amy Dwyer, an Interventional Nephrologist at University of Louisville School of Medicine. She is a pioneer in the field of Interventional Nephrology and taught me so much. And #UofL is one of the few training sites in the country.
Dialysis catheters, Thrombectomies, Angiograms, Renal Biopsies, Renal Ultrasounds, oh my! There is absolutely no limitation in #InternalMedicine .
SN: my bump is starting to make quite the appearance. 🤰🏾scrubs are still holding up. 👌🏾

Our new Senior Critical Care case!!
Louie was found abandoned and if very rough shape. Skin and bones, very dehydrated, scruffy fur and horrible ear mites eating at his poor ears.
Louie went to the vets and we found out he has RENAL DISEASE and very bad teeth and gums. Though, other vitals appear normal and well, Louie is on his way to try and fight the disease!
He will require a special diet, some meds and a dental surgery once we can control the renal disease.
On a good note! Louie is so gentle, loveable and cuddly! We hope he will find an amazing family that would love to help him live out his senior years! 💕🐱If you feel you may have the home to bring Louie into your family or would like to help donate, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
