We are all built as unique individuals, we can face the exact same situation but see it with completely different lenses.  See what happens when you use the DISC profile to see how a person would respond when faced with slipping on a banana peel as they walk down the street:

A D would say “Dumb banana peel” kicking the banana peel as they continue briskly on their way.  Having no clue that chances are they just kicked that peel straight into the path of the next passerby

An I would turn to anyone that was near them saying “Oh my goodness, did you see that?  I can’t even believe I just slipped on that!  That was so crazy!” While then possibly striking up a conversation about littering in the world today.  Possibly then finding out the life story of that person and what their goals in life are.

An S would quickly take a scan if anyone is around to witness the slip while proclaiming under their breath how glad they are that no one saw it.  Then continuing on pretending that nothing had ever happened while glancing back to keep checking to make sure all seemed exactly as it was before in the world.

A C would immediately reach down to pick up the banana peel while analyzing the situation. “How did this banana peel end up here?  What was the situation surrounding someone choosing to throw this peel here instead of in the trash?  Where is the nearest trash can so I can throw this away?  But even more so, do I need to try and write to someone to make sure this doesn’t happen again and there is a better way that trash can be thrown out in this area?” No one of these responses is correct, no response is wrong.  It is who we are.  You know….you do you!  But the question is how will you use information about personality types to better understand how to communicate with others that aren’t like you?  What happens when a high I steps on that peel but the person that they instinctively flag down to have a conversation about that peel is a high D?  Do you see the tension that could be so easily created there?
