Foil (top) and sabre (bottom). There are three weapons in fencing: foil, sabre and épée. The rules, techniques and strategy are different for all. I've been trying them all this week.
Foil is a thrusting weapon, the valid area is the torso. It feels very technical. Épée is also a thrusting weapon, but the valid area is the whole body. You end up aiming at the hand or foot. It feels like there's a lot of trickery involved. Sabre is a cutting weapon. It's satisfying to slash against the head and arms of your opponent.
So far, I'm more attracted to foil and sabre 😊
