When you shut down your vibration is lowered and it’s very challenging to access love, compassion, and wisdom. By staying open your vibration is raised and you tap into creativity, empathy, and intuition. In times like these everyone needs as much empathy, love and wisdom as possible. Again, I know..... totally out of order, but finally finishing up the last day of this #challenge  I do understand the importance of journaling, but I also think it’s an important reminder in the age of social media to remember not EVERY thought needs to be publicly broadcast. Unfortunately for some of us old enough to realize that, we are reminded on other platforms what pointless and embarrassingly random thought may have crossed our mind on this day 7 years ago. Take time to be in the moment, and remember some things are better off in a journal 📓 then they are broadcast to the world. .

I can’t believe it’s already DAY 7! The final day of #7DaysOfSacredSelfCare ! Today’s challenge is to indulge. . Over the last 5 years, I spent a lot of time in the restaurant industry learning about wine & food. This last year, I completed my level 1 sommelier certification, and really started to dive deeper into what makes a good wine. "Let's get into maintaining self-confidence during the calmer, lower times in the peaks and valleys we experience in life. As I'm a workaholic, much of my validation comes from creating something and putting it into the world. Then watching what incredible things show up in return. However, when we are meant to go inward, or our focus is to calmly "savor the moment", I can get quite jumbled. Slower times can truly knock me off my rock of confidence, which then runs the possibility of flowing any way the the wind blows. Or similarly, if I'm simply ungrounded and have disconnected from myself, I need an extra anchor to ground back into my confidence. ⠀⠀

It's one thing to tell everyone that confidence is the most beautifying trait one can have. It's another to live and experience that. When I'm confident, I radiate. So much so that it doesn't matter what I wear, look like, or do. Self-confidence is also THE magnetic trait of Manifestation (in one's power). Not contrived confidence. But true, connected confidence. And for this I like to anchor into it always".⠀⠀

Cooking is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I love to try new flavor combinations and create interesting meals - but this week has been a different story- I’ve been battling food poisoning since a trip to Mexico last week and haven’t been able to eat much at all. It’s been so frustrating because food is one of my favorite things. Today, all I’ve eaten is toast with peanut butter (my favorite food!) and some rice. It’s not much to take a photo of so I used this picture of Zoë and I at Sunset Cliffs for today. I’ve been going at my illness with all of the natural remedies I can think of - including my digest zen and on guard oils from DoTerra! If you’re looking for good recipes check out @minimalistbaker she is my favorite and my go-to resource every time I want to try something new in the kitchen!

Meet Kendall!⠀

Kendall grew up in the Pacific North West and moved to San Diego in the Spring of 2016 where she settled in to teach yoga. Her passion for yoga comes from a desire to help others slow down and connect with their bodies on a deeper level. For Kendall, yoga provided relief from chronic anxiety. With regular practice she was able to cultivate a more positive lifestyle. Now she enjoys sharing the tools she learned with others in hopes of helping them relieve the stress and anxieties in their own lives.⠀

At Saffron & Sage you will find Kendall teaching Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. She creates a welcoming, safe space, filled with feel-good adjustments and encouragement. Kendall’s intention is to show students the power and strength that resides within their own bodies and minds. She uses essential oils to enhance the experience and strives to leave students in a state of bliss at the end of each class. When Kendall isn’t in the yoga studio you can find her out rock climbing or in the kitchen making her favorite treats. ⠀

Pain management has always been a difficult issue for me. I’ve been very fortunate to have amazing teachers in my life that have taught me some meditation and relaxation skills that assist in some of those extremely difficult moments. At times I’ve had a very strong daily practice, this #yogachallenge is the perfect reminder to try to get back into that. #grateful .

I’ve always had a very active mind so traditional seated meditation is a challenge for me. If I am in a guided meditation or a teacher is facilitating the time, I love it, but if I’m on my own it’s really challenging! Last year, I went to a Buddhist monastery and experienced walking meditation for the first time and finally found something that works for me. At the monastery we took a silent hike. My senses felt elevated. The texture of the ground became apparent, the smells more pronounced and my eyes began to notice more of the subtle details around me. Then, eventually, I was able to get in the zone and let everything drift away. Like in yoga, the sound of my breath and the rhythmic crunch of my feet against the earth took over. It was beautiful. Next time you walk alone try to tune into a meditative state. You can do it anywhere - in nature or the city! It’s a wonderful way to clear the mind. 🙏🏼

One of my favorite things about yoga is that it meets you wherever you are. On days I want a challenge and a good sweat I take heated classes, but on days like today where I am feeling a little sick, I can do yin yoga and deep stretches from the comfort of my home. Check out my story later today for some simple poses to start your day. Even if you don’t have the energy for a full on work out there is a lot you can do to stay active and keep your body moving. Being stagnant is not an option for me anymore. I’m happiest when I’m moving my body and challenging myself!

Today’s challenge is a date with nature. One of my favorite places to go in San Diego is Sunset Cliffs. Walking along the paths or hiking down to the tide pools or secret beaches is always a good time. On days like today when the sun is out and the sky is clear there’s no where better to be! I moved to San Diego with the intention to get outside as much as possible and so far it’s been a wonderful adventure. Nature is so healing and restorative. When I am feeling under the weather some fresh air is the best cure! I’m grateful to live in such a beautiful city!

It has been an introspective month. A lot to reflect on and process. It can be a challenge to hold space for others in my classes and still make time to process my own stuff too. In the last few months I’ve changed jobs, left an unhealthy long-term relationship, my grandfather passed away and now a friend has passed away as well. Instagram shows you my travels and happy moments but there is more happening behind the lens. As I reflect on the fragility of life I feel truly lucky to be here. To follow my passions, to enjoy nature, to breathe each breath with gratitude for the moment. We never know when our time will come so let’s vow to make the most of each precious moment we have. Take time to take care of yourself today. Call a loved one. Make someone smile. Treat others with kindness and respect, ALWAYS. You never know what is going on within them. Life is beautiful - enjoy each moment you are given and take nothing for granted.

Meet Rob, an Integrative Healer, specializing in reiki, yoga + movement, aromatherapy, and sound. With a childhood saturated in an abundance of palm readers, herbalists, and holistic practitioners, he carries on his family's lineage of intuition and divine wellness.⠀

After graduating from UC San Diego with a Bachelors of Arts in Communications, he worked as a fashion photoshoot producer in NYC. He later surrendered to his need for personal health after episodes of anxiety-induced syncope and left the city. The experience manifested a three month healing pilgrimage throughout South-East Asia, where he reunited with his childhood roots while meeting family in Vietnam and unlocking the kundalini spirit in Bali.⠀

Rob currently resides in San Diego and is passionate about cultivating balance among the layers of being (from the physical realm to the inner spirit). When he is not facilitating healing circles and teaching yoga, you can find him flower foraging and relaxing at nude beaches.

Ambiguous situations are when we need to take initiative and communicate effectively.⠀

Ambiguity can make us uncomfortable. We appreciate people who are clear and straight forward, and do not trust too much complexity.⠀

It is more comfortable for us when we think we know where we stand. Ambiguity seems to be full of opportunities for misunderstanding and confusion.⠀

When things get too complicated they feel ambiguous, more difficult to nail down. It is a challenge for us to get a good handle on vague, indistinct ideas. We like to have a place for everything and everything in its place, especially when we are leading.⠀

We tend to see people, and situations, which are ambiguous as potential problems.⠀
⠀
Many of us experience ambiguity as the enemy of leadership.⠀
⠀
It is almost as if we would prefer people to march together rather than dancing.⠀

Fall is here! The long, hot days of Summer are gone, and the mornings are darker a bit longer, and a touch cooler.⠀

You may feel a surge of energy during this time of year, as the blaring heat of Summer has taken its toll on our bodies. The fatigue felt in the heat is beginning to subside, and the cool, dewy Fall mornings feel refreshing and reflective.⠀

Those hot teas and mochas are sounding better and better as each new day rises. And as with any change in seasons, it is time to get ourselves ready, especially since Fall is the entryway into Winter. ⠀

The Garden⠀
There are several colder-weather crops you can plant, and when your at the farmers market look for kale, arugula, spinach, and Swiss chard at the farmers markets, as well as dark orange and green vegetables.⠀

The Wild⠀
Animals are extremely in tune with the seasons. from higher elevations. It is a perfect time to hike through the forest or local nature reserve, just to watch the energy flit and fly around you. Spending some time in Nature during Fall will give you an energy boost as well.⠀

The Spirit⠀
Fall can bring to the surface some reflection time for which you may not be prepared. Grief, mourning, and forgiveness are important emotions to deal with during this season. Increase your activity—take a yoga class, go for a light jog, or take the dog for a hike— Fall is a time to let go before the quiet calm of Winter is here. ⠀

Take care of yourself this Fall, and embrace all this season has to offer.⠀
