The rain can’t drown out this cutie’s parade! Kyra kept her sweet smile and enthusiasm through puddles and mud, raindrops and slippery leaves... We had a great time! And when our fun walk/run was done, it was time to shake it off, shake it off 🐾💦🐶🐾💦 #pointermix#pointerlove#doesntlikesquirrelsthough

In this week's "now and then" post we feature Ivy. Ivy came to Old Dog Haven foster Maryke, with mammary tumors. It was obvious from her appearance she'd been neglected for quite some time. Ivy's only hope to leave the shelter was to come into the care of Old Dog Haven as a Final Refuge dog. A Final Refuge dogs is a permanent foster home. None of our dogs go to a shelter or facility; they all go to private homes. Veterinary care for each dog is funded through donations.
Ivy's mammary tumors were removed but after she recovered from that she developed pyometra. It'd not been recognized that she had never been spayed! Pyometra is a deadly infection of the uterus. Ivy had emergency surgery to remove her uterus and she recovered from that.
Ivy has spent the months in her Final Refuge home enjoying the company of other dogs in her home and being spoiled by his forever foster mom. Maryke frequently shares wonderful, heartwarming photos of Ivy. She's a very happy girl.
Recently it was found through an ultrasound that Ivy's cancer has returned. While everyone is sad about this news-Ivy isn't sad because she doesn't know it! She continues to enjoy each and every day she's with her human and canine family. She loves her toys, bones and cuddling with Maryke. Ivy has a home with love and care until the very end.
Thanks to our fosters, volunteers and all of you who support our mission-none of this would happen without YOU!
As you know, we recently closed down our Marysville shop. We received this testimonial on our FB Page and had to share, seriously brings us to tears ❤️
“I’ve been busy like so many of you. This truly broke my heart. Now it's not the end of the world, however those of you who know how much I am grateful for a reliable vehicle and value my independence this came as quite a shock when I hopped in my Subaru, headed down to the Marysville location for my oil change and noticed upholstery parking only in my Suburb Service parking only spot.
It didn’t even occur to me that one of my favorite businesses was gone! I even went inside, stood at the counter to maybe ask the new business owner, and after standing a few minutes in shock exited and sat in my car with my heart in my stomach. Where are they? They wouldn’t leave without telling us. This is very unusual. I called my husband and a few family. I looked up Suburb Service other location and quickly called. Deb was super nice and explained that they sent out emails, notices etc, I agreed I had been busy and probably missed the email, and I haven’t been on facebook as much.
These kinds of businesses are rare these days. In my experience with these folks they have saved me hundreds of dollars and time spent. I have been to them when I have needed them over the last several years and have had a stellar experience each and every time. A business that has years of experience and the employees are long time employees with little turnover says a whole lot.
If you are a Subaru owner and lover, I hope you had a chance to read this. Suburb Service has truly been a blessing to us.
GO HAWKS!” -- Adria Rosfeld Vincent
