Have you ever wished for that one chance?
That one chance to just go back in time?
To just meet your yesterday version?
To stop yourself from leading your heart towards destruction?
To just take a u-turn from meeting some evil-two-faced persons?
To just make sure that you dont make certain decisions?
Which seemed to be amazing but you know it isn't?
Do you ever just sit outside on the cold chair?
Feel your hurt memories take you somewhere?
Somewhere off on an isolated world
Where no one can walk, but only your shoes?
Do you relieve through your scarred memories?
Do you watch your world crumble down helplessly in repeat
The way it did in your yesteryear?
And then when the flashback gets over
Do you gasp suffocated?
Or feel numb as usual?
So tell me, goddamit
Do you ever wish for that one more chance?
To avoid the nightmare that you always fear of before sleeping?
Do you ever think of the lost sands of time?
The way I keep wondering?
'Cause if you do,
Then Ill consider myself still sane enough to live in this chaotic world
But if you dont,
Then trust me,
I am going insane by every minute of the day.
I am tired of getting hurt by my own world.

Our #Mcm today goes to our mentally enriching crush Dike Chukwumerije (@simplypoetryng ). He is a Nigerian spoken word and performance poetry artist and an award winning author. His poems speak volumes on the real issues we face as a country and not just that but he examine these problems in such a way that the rationale behind them is exposed mostly as problems of the mind. He is a craftsman who uses creative and engaging storytelling mixed with humor to tell a story about our past, present and possible future as a Country. We were able to attend his amazing poetry theatre production "Made In Nigeria" (currently touring the country) which was an amazing nostalgic experience. His speeches at 'Tedex' and '23rd Nigeria Economic Summit' is something every Nigerian should watch at they are informative and thought provoking.

Was wäre, wenn? - - - - - - - - Video: @chrismsmusic - - - - - -
STILL I RISE
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history’s shame
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

When I was younger I had a dream that I would be someone.
Someone important, someone that mattered.
I wanted to make a difference, to be special.
I thought I would be someone by now but instead I am nothing.
I am falling between the cracks of my broken soul trying to be okay.
The anxiety to be someone important and successful is suffocating me.
I want to be remembered as someone not only as the girl that was so overwhelmed with sadness.
