HOW FATIGUED ARE YOU??? 1) Are you fuelled correctly before training?
2) Are you aware of how fatigued you are in the gym?
I'll explain exactly what I mean in both instances below...
Fatigue in the gym can and will happen prematurely if you're not taking on the right nutrients, in adequate quantities at the correct time. The same can be said for supplementation and of course, hydration. The reason I bring this point up is because in order to really get across the second point today I need to ensure you're actually giving your body everything it needs to push the boundaries. Only you can answer how consistent you are with your eating, water and supplementation.
With that said, the second part is the main thing I wanted to cover today...
Are you aware of how fatigued you are in the gym? There is obviously a natural regression in performance as the workout goes on due to lactic acid, muscle glycogen depletion and energy system fatigue along with other things. This is a given! If you're just as fresh for the last set as your first set then something is wrong, you're NOT pushing hard enough.
However, you should never under estimate how much your body can actually achieve when YOU push it. Even when you feel fatigued the reality is there are definitely more reps available in each set than you're doing, if you:
1) Use rest/pause
2) Dig deep mentally to push beyond your sticking point
Imagine I was standing over you whilst you were doing your set... I promise you, I'll get you to do more f***ing reps! That tells you a lot about the extra capacity you do have, even when fatigued, to train harder.
By tapping into these reps which you're currently missing out on you will see much quicker progression. This is the threshold where you can expect to see faster results taking place, because of the stress they cause on the muscle.
When you start to feel fatigued and come to the end of your set, ask yourself... Am I actually training hard enough???
