I don't think you become an entrepreneur without the spirit of adventure.
It can feel like you are entering the great unknown
it takes knowing yourself
it takes trusting yourself
there will probably be tears
most definitely some cussing
it is an adventure
and so worth it!
Look at this superstar with impeccable timing- I'm putting the final@sprinkles of writerly glitter on The Blueprint, my monthly letter of 💙 and comms to my list right now! #butfirstagreensmoothie#mamaneedshergreens
Back in the studio tonight. I love my Selphy printer, but catching up on three years of memory keeping requires a trip to Costco! 225 prints! But it was super easy to upload them last night and pick up on my way home tonight. Now to make some serious progress on these scrapbooks. #CPScreativechallenge

Lately I've been thinking a lot about ways to stay creative. Owning a business centered around creativity can sometimes feel like it is draining my creativity rather than building it up. One of my favorite ways to get reenergized and boost creativity is to shoot at new locations. I see the shoot with different eyes, not knowing what to expect and using the space around me to create images that fit my clients.
Heading to Grand Rapids for Victoria's (and her brother Peter's- his sneak peek is coming soon!) senior session was the perfect way to reenergized my creativity during a busy season. I loved the location she picked and being at an apple orchard even had me feeling a little bit excited for fall!

it's like Christmas, but not! 😆 one more weekend and we're heading to Oklahoma City for a retreat with some of my favorite people!! what are y'alls plans for the weekend? can you believe fall is officially next month? YES LORD. 🙌🏼🍂🍁
Today was a REALLY great day. If we end summer on this note, I would not be sad. Grace played with her birthmom at the park, then mastered the deep end at the pool (also she fell in love with her 17 year old instructor 😂), my teen boys came home from a truly memorable church camp that rocked their socks off, AND I got a letter from Georgia. My Army kid has written home and my mom heart is full. Aannnnnd this has nothing to do with interiors and that's 👌 with me. 😎
Some of my favorite human-inhabited spaces are tiny towns with quirky shops and sidewalks for walking from one end to the next. After hiking 100 miles, I was not disappointed with the energy of Front Royal, VA. It's mix of old and new, earth and dirt, and traveling souls inspired me.
Stepping into this town was a sanctuary, a relief, a snapshot into the past and a vision for my future. I slept in a dingy hotel and loved every second.
I wrote and left this poem for a stranger to find @happycreekcoffee.
The person you are was woven together with a PURPOSE. No part of your self is an accident in the eyes of the Father. You matter. God designed you to make a difference. Embrace your spiritual gifts and allow them to grow. Step into the stream of godly girl power by using your spiritual gifts to touch others and fulfill your God-given purpose.
"Other people are going to find healing in your wounds.
Your greatest life messages and your most effective ministry will come out of your deepest hurts."
If healing is birthed out of wounds, and joy is found on the other side of pain, and if the greatest love story of all time was because of one man's willingness to lay down his life. Then why do we run from our wounds. Why do we run from our pain? Why are we so afraid to love wholeheartedly? The love that requires death to self, true love.-
As a society we've been taught to sweep problems under the rug and pretend like they never happened. Don't go too deep. Love enough, but protect your heart at all cost. Just slap some makeup on or grow a pair and get over it. We've been told that "time heals all things", but time doesn't heal anything. I know this. You don't forget your deepest hurts. If you want healing, if you truly want to be healed then you have to do the exact opposite of what you've been taught.-
You have to rip the bandaid off and treat the wound. You can't afford to spend one more day pretending that "bandaids" have magic powers. We tell our kids "awe sweetie let's go get a bandaid and make it will all better." We teach our kids this silly idea from a very early age. The bandaid didn't heal your wound. Sure it helped protect it from getting dirty or infected, but it didn't heal it. The healing came when you treated it. When you ripped the bandaid off, when you washed the wound, treated it, and when you endured pain in order to find healing.

My journey as a trainer/coach started back in 2004. At the age of 14.
That's when I started really lifting weights and competing in sports. I was never the fastest or the biggest or the strongest.
But I worked. I lead by example.
After high school I remember working out with my Dad. He was trying to get in better shape and I was constantly working out. So I started to put him through my work outs.
I moved to MD short after that and my Mom would tell me my Dad was lost in the gym.
This post was too long for IG. If you want to hear the rest of my journey, why I decided to train, and also my experience being a trainer in a corporate gym go to my Facebook page Valdyr Barbell and leave a comment or your opinion 🤷🏽♂️.
