Zodiac Killer suspect #2
Earl Van Best Jr.
He also has one of the closest facial features when compared to the sketch of the Zodiac Killer (see previous post to compare). Gary L. Stewart, Best’s biological son, raised the subject with police and claimed that his father was the famous murderer. He even asked a handwriting expert to compare his father’s signature on his marriage certificate to the handwriting found in the Zodiac letters. According to the expert, there was a match.
Zodiac Killer suspect #1
The resemblance is striking and there were even accusations thrown at him at the time. Many recent investigators believe it was actually him.
(see next post for the Zodiac Killer sketch)
Ongoing instability, dysfunctional institutions, and lack of enforcement contribute to Somalia’s top ranking as the most corrupt country in the world. The governing elite in #Somalia often embezzle public funds and take bribes with zero ramifications. #CorruptionWorldTour

Plenty of murder trials inspire heated debate over guilt versus innocence, both in the jury room and in the court of public opinion. In recent years, true crime has seen a resurgence in popularity, particularly with a focus on wrongful convictions, illuminating various failures of the justice system along the way. From Scott Peterson to Darlie Routier, we looked at five convicted murderers who might actually be innocent. See the full list at RollingStone.com.

Quintella Brown, 22, made a family trip to Walmart with her 13-year-old nephew and 12-year-old niece on Christmas eve. Too bad they weren’t there to shop for presents. Instead, the trio intended to steal merchandise from the store, but when they were caught by security, Brown pulled out a box cutter and sliced one of the employees across the chest. She also bit another on the shoulder before they were able to restrain her. The incident landed her in handcuffs, and she was charged with aggravated robbery. That’s how long 17 year old Junko Furuta was tortured and raped. She was abducted on November 25, 1988 by 4 teenage boys and, after being raped, was taken to Nobaharu Minato’s (The leader of the fours boys’ accomplice) house. When Nobaharu's parents were around, Junko was forced to pose as the girlfriend of one of the kidnappers. They later dropped the act of her being the girlfriend when it became clear that the parents would not inform the police of the kidnapping. The Minatos later said that they didn’t do anything because they were afraid of retaliation from Hiroshi Miyano, who had ties to the Yakuza. Because they didn’t do anything Junko was raped over 400 times, starved, had weights dropped on her stomach, was forced to eat cockroaches and drink urine, had foreign objects (like scissors, bottles, still lit bulbs) inserted inside her, and was beaten and tortured in various other ways. Other members of the Yakuza were brought into the house to do whatever they wanted with Junko.
In December Junko attempted to call police but was caught and as punishment her legs and feet were doused in lighter fluid and set on fire. She went into convulsions but they thought she was faking it so they set her on fire again. After surviving these injuries Junko was reported to have asked her captors multiple times to "kill her and get it over with", but they refused. Instead, they forced her to sleep outside on the balcony in the middle of winter and locked her in a freezer.
Due to sever harm on her genitals and the internal injuries she sustained she no longer had control of her bladder or bowel and couldn’t keep down water or food. On the 40th day of all this the four boys challenged Junko to a game of Mahjong, which she won. This angered the boys and they beat her with an iron barbell, kicked and punched her, and burned her eyelids with hot wax. They forced her to stand, and struck her feet with swinging stick. She finally collapsed and fell onto a stereo and went into a fit of convulsions. Since she was covered in blood and pus the four boys covered their hands in plastic bags taped at the wrists and continued to beat her.
Who'd rock the hell out of this pin by @_drty_? Me, I'm too creeped out by clowns, but I know it'd be a great conversation starter at parties 😂 Watching "Killer Clowns from Outer Space" at an early age may have ruined it for me.
It's cool seeing what true crime books people are reading. One of our resolutions is to read more instead of getting all crime info through podcasts. 📸: @aidcrem bonus points for having a cute reading partner!
This one looks like a good one, who's already read it?!
