Her father louis of Luxembourg marriage and tried to take her back with force but philip consummated the marriage blocking him. He was later governor of Luxembourg hainault and ligny. Philip was known for his determination and strong personality. He fought in most of philip the good and charles the bolds battles earning distinction. In 1471 he defected to France with 600 knights but returned to burgundy to serve charles at the battle of nancy where charles died and philip was captured. After his release he arranged charles daughter maries marriage to emperor maximilian 1. The emperor made him governor of valenciennes lt general of liege captain general of hainaut. He began building a grand church at chateau porcien. He died in 1511.

Born in 1549 the son of philippe 2 and anna of lorraine his godfathers were emperor charles V and king philip 2 of spain giving him powerful connections to the habsburgs. He served the duke of alba against william the silent and the dutch revolt in 1568. In 69 he fought for the french king against the huguenots. He was wounded at the battle of moncontour and was treated by famed dr ambroise pare. He became a confidant to philip 2 and a member of the state council of the Netherlands. In 1576 he failed to stop his allies sack of Antwerp. In 1577 he defected to the rebels becoming ambassador to England. In 79 he defected back to spain but was not given a post for 8 years. In 87 he led a military force to help charles 3 of lorraine and regained his post on the council. In 94 archduke ernest sent him as burgundian representative to the imperial diet. He became a prince of the empire and knight of the golden fleece. He married diane dommartin and had 4 kids charles alexandre, dorothea, ernst and christina. He died at burgundy in 1613.
