Humane slaughter is an oxymoron. How do you humanely kill another creature? Do you lovingly slit its throat? Do you tenderly shoot a bolt into its brain, especially when it is unnecessary to kill the creature in the first place? 
We choose to kill animals because we like the taste of them, because we think we need to eat them for protein, or because we have been incorrectly and inhumanely socially conditioned to believe animals and all their parts are here merely to serve us. Nothing could be further from the truth. 
Animals can experience joy, pain, and happiness, just like we do. They create complex social hierarchies, they communicate with each other, and they lovingly care about their families, just like we do. 
The truth is not only do we not have to eat any animals whatsoever, but we will actually be much healthier, live longer, and avoid 15 of the 16 most common killers of humans if we don’t eat them at all. Lots to celebrate this weekend... we made it through another week, we’re alive and breathing, the sun came up again, and we still have all of our body parts (#gratitude) In addition to that (most important, right?!) we kicked off our retreat yesterday and already have 3 epic women joining us (if you’re in need of a wellness retreat, check it out, the link is in our bio), and we have these magic bars to nosh on all weekend😍 I mean, look at that chocolate layer (personally I could go for 4 layers of that alone🤷🏻‍♀️). Anyway, it wanted to look at the effect of a whole food, plant-based diet on obesity, ischaemic heart disease and diabetes. 📑

It took 65 individuals between the ages of 35-79 in NZ from one of the areas with the highest rates of obesity and heart disease, and split them into 2 groups: the control group received standard medical care, and the study group received standard medical care plus a diet change program to a WFPB diet. They were encouraged not to count calories or to restrict energy intake, only to ensure they were eating a nutrient-dense diet, and to minimize sugar, salt, oil, and processed food (obviously with no meat, eggs or dairy). 📑

They were followed up after 6 months and then a year and here’s what they found: 
The WFPB group showed a more significant and more sustained decrease in BMI, a more significant decrease in cholesterol, lower HbA1c levels (a measure of long term diabetes control), and improved quality of life and self esteem compared to the control group, without significant changes in food enjoyment or cost. People in the WFPB group also came off 20 medications between them, whereas the control group had 6 medications added to their cocktails between them. 💊

Now I know there were only 65 people included in this study, and if it was the only study to show such results, it would be scetchy at best 😄 but this is one in thousands and it simply adds to our ever growing pile of research showing the incredible effects of whole food, plant based diets. 👏🏼🌿

haven’t selfie-d in a while because honestly, i haven’t felt my best. the past two months i’ve been in a hole that i couldn’t pull myself out of. not bad thoughts, and nothing really happened to make me feel a certain way, just filled with emptiness. but i’m finally seeing the light. 🌻 finally pulling myself out of the deep, dark hole of nothingness. tomorrow, i’m going to start walking/running. i have a half marathon exactly 5 months away! i have done little to no training and i’m ready to see some progress in myself, and to finally see some progress on my page too. i’ve never been fully successful with my weight loss journey, but i feel like this is my last do-over. this is the last time i’m going to restart because something is actually going to change this time! i can feel it in my bones. my next post, will be a sweaty selfie tomorrow. maybe some food prep, or a meal, too. i am going to stay consistent. i can feel the change within me! i’m not going to apologize for being so up and down all the time, because that’s just who i am. i’ve never been diagnosed with depression or anxiety, but it might be time to go get checked out. but i’m going to try this first. i’m going to get my physical health straightened out, and if my mental/emotional is still wack, then i will make an appointment. i’m so thankful for everyone that has stuck with my journey thus far, i’m going to be better this time. i have to! it’s all up to me. 💕

Хотя, я много смотрела видео М.Грегера, но из книги узнала для  себя новое - производимая в промышленном масштабе мороженая брокколи не способна образовывать сульфорафан, т.к.овощи бланшируют перед заморозкой именно в целях деактивации ферментов 😮Но!!! В мороженых крестоцветных все равно есть предшественник сульфорафана,к-ый устойчив к нагреву. Вы можете образовать кучу сульфорафана из него,опять добавив необходимый фермент - мирозиназу. Для этого просто посыпьте готовые овощи горчичным порошком. Редис дайкон, обычный редис,хрен и васаби - другие крестоцветные овощи с аналогичным эффектом 😄😄😄 Поэтому на фото вы можете увидеть горчич.порошок 😉 В общем, буду делиться информацией из книги . Надеюсь,  вам это интересно!

In both cases, I found REAL LIFE information that included not only feeling better, but also faster recovery, better sleep, reduced inflammation, improved blood levels, etc. It has been over a year and a half that we have made the switch, and never looked back. We were not had any meat at all and surprisingly have not missed it.

I have always been a huge fan of corn chowder, but it would leave me feeling heavy + gross due to tons of oil and salt — this recipe is so delicious, super easy to make, super satisfying, made with whole foods, fuels your body + doesn’t make you feel like a turd 💩 
mmkay here is zee recipe (I got the orig recipe from High Carb Hannah - and I slightly changed things, as I always do 😆 
ingredients: 
2-3 medium russet potatoes, peeled + cubed 
2 bags of frozen non gmo corn 🌽
1 cup of split red lentils 🌱
1 red bell pepper, cubed 🌶
1 can of coconut milk 
4 cups of water 💦 
1 tbsp red curry paste 🔥
1 tbsp vegan chick’n bullion 🍃
garlic + onion powder, smoked paprika + black pepper to taste 👅

to make: 
toss everything into a pot, bring to a boil, lower to simmer, cover + cook for 45 mins to 1 hour — then blend half or all of this (I did half) — serve with rice 🍚 .

🌱 Sometimes I just need a salad. 😋 But I always make sure it’s nutritious AF! 🌱 Do you fear fats? If you do, fear no more. Always include some form of healthy fat into your meals. I’m not talking about animals fats or vegetable oils. Healthy fats are things like nuts, seeds (including butters made out of them!) and my beloved avocados. They will not only make your meal more satisfying, but they’ll help you better absorb the fat-soluble vitamins from the rest of the food. It’s a win-win. So keep the carbs up, but don’t fear fats! You are not what you eat, but what you absorb 😉

I added some fresh veggies to the leftover bulgur and cauliflower and baked the chickpeas and green peas in the oven after marinating them with spices. Yum! // Tag 3 des Meal Prep Essens. Auch heute gab es nochmal Kicher- und grüne Erbsen. Die anderen Essensreste (Bulgur, Blumenkohl) habe ich mit frischem Gemüse aufgepeppt und die Hülsenfrüchte haben ne feurig-scharfe Marinade bekommen, bevor sie in den Ofen gewandert sind. Lecker!
