When a return customer walks into my booth...sporting a buckle she purchased more than 4yrs. ago...YES!!!...thats what its all about!!! It's not in the bottom of a junk drawer, pawn shop, thrift store...It is traveling in time, on someone's journey...getting dirty, scratched and dinged...
The finished deerskin painting in natural light. #nofilter This was custom from start to finish, the customer made the aspen frame which got deerskin strips to wrap and conceal the joints. Then I stretched and laced the deerskin around the frame. The portraits were done in acrylics thinned down to create a watercolor like effect. Lots of layers went into the contours to highlight and lowlight the features. Tandy Antique was applied after it was all done to age the hide and create a shadow around the horses. Perfect ranch decor with a personal touch. #customartwork
Thistle Creek (Spring) by Douglas Fryer, 8x8" oil. For his solo exhibition, Transformations, Fryer reveals nature’s complexities with visions that are at once harsh and beautiful, peaceful yet wild. Preview new paintings on our website for his September 1st show opening.
Congratulations to AWA member Linda Short - her works Heaven in the Raw (triptych) and Driven (shown here) won 1st and 2nd place at the MT State Fair Professional Division, Peoples' Choice! #womenartists#westernart#landscapes#art
Planning my booth for Autumn & Art in Wichita (Sept. 15-17) and deciding which paintings are going there and which are going to @claritycoffee in OKC. I think this one is coming with me to the festival.
If you don't know already know, this painting is of Boo the bear who lives up @kickinghorsemtn if you get the chance I highly recommend going up there and checking him out in person. I'd like to thank Jubilee Cacaci for the awesome reference photos!
Can you cross at least one item off of your list today? That has been a question that gratefully I've answered with a firm YES over the last few years. My photography, passion and patience waiting for all of the pieces to align is really coming together in unexpected and beautiful ways. Here's to paying attention to the little surprises that remind us we're on the right path. Onward friends!
