During the @ifsclimbing World Cup in Edinburgh, I tried to capture many candid photos, but during the Speed Climbing portion, I was able to capture athletes as they focused in on the task they were about to undertake. I made sure to take these during their practice runs so as to ensure less distraction , but to still match the intensity of the athletes' concentration. Here is France's Elma Fleuret before her practice run, the first of a series of #SpeedyPortraits .
Haven’t set a boulder in ages. It’s been kinda nice, since between setting and training the burnout can get pretty real sometimes. But the start of a new set when the walls are blank and the possibilities are endless is a magical hour of creativity before you have to start putting up a bunch of squeeze jobs ;)

Along those lines, hope everyone is having a blast at the first @usaclimbing National Cup this weekend. Qualifiers looked pretty sick!

Ethan cleaning an anchor in Spearfish Canyon after sending a nice 11b, while I monitor through the zoom lens. Oddly many of the anchors here are cold shuts, with bolts that are too long to allow dropping the rope in. It's hard to think of an explanation for installing hardware this way, but at least the large openings make cleaning easy. Ethan is using the modern best practice method of passing a bight through the anchors and clipping in to a figure 8 before undoing the original knot. We generally arrange climbing order so that he doesn't need to clean (mistakes at the anchor are one of the few real dangers in sport climbing). However, it's a necessary skill, and it's reassuring to know that Ethan understands his safety system better than most adult climbers do.
Good times at #JoesValleyFest !! @carriecooper_dpt is hosting a finger injury prevention clinic at 4pm today at the Rec Center! Then, Happy Hour at 5pm! See y'all there!
Name this climb! Had such a rockin clinic last night with @palmerlarsen and @petzl_official !!! Today the sun is out and the temps are ❄️. After you send come hang with me for a finger injury discussion. I know you all have questions. Bring em!! #Repost @jeffrueppel (@get_repost)
The always awesome Carrie Cooper. Not only getting joyful on the rock but also teaching a Finger Prevention Injury Clinic at Joe's Fest! Get to her and hang dog all the wisdom you can before your fingers get all rebellious. A little black and white from our last trip out there.
Had a great training day with @boulder_mountain_institute yesterday romping around on Longs Peak. Did a little ice climbing and a little scratchy scratch. I love the sneaker 👟 approach to alpine climbing. Conditions are excellent right now.
The American Alpine Journal. An amazing annual publication featuring the previous year's most significant and inspiring climbing achievements. So proud to have not one, but two friends featured in it's pages. Big ups to @tessgferguson and @chrismutzel for their awesome new routes!
Landed the dyno on Sloper Safari today! Just need to do the top out, but I was not about to do a v4 mantle with one pad and no spotter. Nope. Our days are limited at the park so hopefully I can knock this one out before we move away in TEN days!!! Can't wait for new adventures with @ry_blenkhorn 😚
Have you ever heard so much praise for a climb/hike/camping spot that you started to wonder if it could ever live up to the hype? And then you go there and it still completely EXCEEDS your expectations? Yeah... that's what Namaste Wall was like. 4 stars all around. #believethehype
Long’s Peak left a salty taste in my mouth today. First time I’ve ever had to turn around due to weather conditions. The clouds and wind were not so friendly in the other side of the mountain. The trip there was still worth it. Got to hike under the stars, chase after my helmet when it blew away, met some cool people, and some sweet views. —
But on the other hand I did hit a personal milestone of mine. So far this year I’ve done over 250,000ft of elevation change and just under 400 miles of hiking. Crazy to think of all the places I’ve been.
Wooooo, back in the land of sandstone goodness for the next month! Psyched to be at @colorthecrag this weekend and participating in a panel on Creating and Keeping Space for communities of color in the outdoors! Hope to see some of y'all here! 🤗 A @hydephoto 📷 on Super Mario Extension this past March. #flashfoxy#stonefort#lrc#bouldering#outdoorwomen
As we crested the ridge we were presented with a magnificent view of Glacier Peak. Once in awhile I entertain the notion of winning the lottery. And the funny thing is, I would spend the rest of my life roughing it in places like this. Briefly interrupted by surf trips to places like Costa Rica, Indonesia, and South Africa. Thankfully @trismarie8 keeps me rooted in reality and pushing forward towards our goals. I have lived a blessed lifetime at 28 to have witnessed Mother Nature in all of her wildness and grandeur though. #protectourwinters#wildernessculture#neverstopexploring

#JoesValleyFest is in full swing! 🙌🏼 Just a reminder to watch the speed limits in town - it goes from 50mph to 25mph very quickly! And if you're in the Canyons, make sure to park fully out of the road inside the white lines. #PSA Come find us at @thecupofjoes! 📸 @thervproject
I love the first few snowfalls in the Rockies. It shows off the crazy strata that make up the mountains, like these layers in Mount Jerram. Imagine, that whole mass was once flat at the bottom of the sea!
While editing this photo, I also found a little surprise - a weather station on Mt Burney! I have never noticed that in person. Not sure if you can see it on the webs low res, but its there on the left end of the ridge in the sun.

With so many people posting about heading to @colorthecrag, I'm missing home and HP40 a little bit extra. Here's one from last fall on a fun day out with @mikerosay and @trifecta_83. Mike jumped on his circuit and easily finished Hugs and Kisses.
