There are rumors that a former president of the Congo had occupied these walls after he turned his back on his own country. The story goes on to say he suddenly abandoned this home like he suddenly abandoned Congo, and that his reasons for leaving were unknown.
This chateau is one of the more difficult ones to research, but I was also able to find out it was built in 1752. When I visited in October 2015, this beauty was in rough shape. Many floors had collapsed, there had appeared to have been a fire at some point, and we couldn't explore many areas because this structure truly was a death trap. Many historic homes don't have happy endings, however I did just watch a video of the significant renovations that are being done here. This structure has been gutted and the walls and floors were already in repair. Although creepy dolly did a fabulous job scaring off guests, someone actually bought this property and is loving it back to life! ❤ I do hope they keep the doll in the window. 😁
