Not every morning is a glorious, rainbow of sunshine...I woke up with the intention to stick to my low sugar intake this morning...but the lack of sleep is leaving me grouchy and irritable (I need to keep this cruella deville attitude in check or I won't have a husband). I've decided to surrender to my mood and have a luscious smoothie!
Sometimes you just need to choose fulfillment; and in the case of foodie fitness and healing accept what is and try not make it a full day of indulgence ~ the devil sitting on my shoulder is denying me my cocoa love (we all know by now that denying oneself can lead to a full-blown food fest later) but the angel on the left is saying 'own it, enjoy every spoonful and then move on'.
🌱Cacao Smoothie 🍫:
1. 1 frozen banana
2. 1 tbs Macadamia butter
3. 1 scoop pea-protein
4. 1 tbs cacao
5. 1 tsp cinnamon
6. 1 tsp organic coconut powder
7. 1 block of 85% Lindt chocolate
8. Half a cup water
9. 3 Ice-cubes
Whizz up: all of the above in a smoothie maker and decorate with a few blueberries! .
Beautiful sunset tonight at Lapham. It was all Ellie's idea. How could I say no when she asked to go to the tower to watch the sunset?
It's been a long emotional day, and her suggestion was exactly what we needed. A good reminder of the little things that make life beautiful. So grateful for family, beautiful sunsets, memories, and being in a moment that you know will be one of those memories that will stick.
I am so lucky to be this girl's mama💕
Tomorrow our family is organising a small event in commemoration of the 25th death anniversary of my Uncle Chalie Kevichusa. A Citizenship Award in my Grandfather's name is also to be given to an examplary Naga who has made a significant contribution to society.
My Grandpa and Uncle were ordinary men who made a difference in the lives of other ordinary people because of their commitment to Integrity and Truth.
Grandpa was the son of one of the first Angami Naga evangelists. He was in the British and Indian administration but later, joined Politics. My memories of him are of a dignified old man with silver hair and a walking stick. Grandpa became blind in the later stages of his life but never seemed to be affected by this disability. He remained dignified till the end.
Uncle Chalie was a beautiful and quiet man. He was the Editor of a local newspaper, and his pen and wit were sharper than any other sharp object. Even we were not spared from it. I remember a fundraising event which our Big Aunt had organised and we (the nieces and some nephews) were made to sing and perform too. Uncle's review of the show was blistering. He compared us to "bleating goats". Haha.
Uncle Chalie was assasinated 25 years ago. His daughter Ameno was telling me the other day, that towards the end of his life, he became relentless in his attack on corruption and corrupt leaders. Uncle Chalie paid the price for it with his life.
Today, we the remnants - the children, the grandchildren and great grandchildren are running around organising this event, not because we are anything extraordinary or great; not because we have more than what others have been given although it is true, God has blessed us with much. But this event is being put together because even we like the ones who have set an example for us, want to make a small difference in the lives of ordinary Nagas, to inspire them to be extraordinary. And in that way hopefully, we too, will do something extraordinary, for the Glory of God.
I'm really drawn to baking lately. As soon as I finished working today, I made a big batch of oatmeal cookies. Yum!
Who else likes to bake? If you do, have you ever seen the feed for @acozykitchen? Her creations always look so delicious!
Welcome to fall, and bake on!

today i am twenty-three and i wanted to write a letter to myself (and any other twenty-something's out there): calm down, you are okay. Nothing is as major of a "deal" as you make it out to be. Find joy, enjoy the simple, and stop making everything so dang complex. People care a great deal about you, you are beyond loved, important & an inspiration to so many others. You don't have to have it all together - because let's be honest, nobody does. However, you DO have to grow. It is important that you wake up each day and find beauty. Even if your workload feels overwhelming at times, be grateful for the work you do have! Seriously though, any other twenty-something would love to have a job like yours! Embrace it! Sometimes life seems to be a lot to handle, but what you're doing is so important. After all, you are beginning to embrace who you were made to be: a creative, smart, strong and genuine leader. Walk in this light and trust that you are where you're meant to be. Have confidence in His plan, and have confidence in yourself. Really though... you got this. // 📸: @bradhart
