This is one of my favorite parts of Troubardour, not just because it is unique and a piece of art, but because it's very symbolic to me.
This piece is my garnish box and I'm going to position in the front right of the bar. All my cocktails will be made with the most delicious fruits, herbs and garnishes that can be found. I don't make margaritas with limes, I make margaritas with the freshest, greenest, most delicious limes I can get my hands on. So the garnish box will be filled with fruit, limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruits, flowers and herbs to symbolize the freshness of the cocktails for all to see and to smell as they pick up their drink from me.
@ketchenbuilding and me built this box from my grandmother's piano which came all the way from Costa Rica and which has been in the family for decades. She taught me to play piano when I was a kid and my dad before me. This bar is dedicated to her, for teaching me about music, life and love. #cocktails#mixology#bar#abuelitas#grandmas#love#art#teardroptrailer
"Las Abuelas" by Jenny Q @quirklyn represents a myriad of themes between Costa Rica and Puerto Rico; which include ancestry, feminism, ethnicity, race, spirituality, arts and the expropriated lands of both respective countries. The importance of Intergenerational relationships and the wisdom of our ancestors is woven through this piece. The grandmothers represent the strength and influences of women in our lives who were often not credited for their contributions. The child is 'trigueña' and represents all three. Their eyes are open due to what the maternal and paternal grandmothers have seen. The traditional dress they are wearing represents the pulse and rhythm of the respective countries its folkloric dances and spirituality, while the background portrays the beautiful natural resources of our lands, which rarely feel as though they belong to the generations of inhabitants, due to significant amounts of the country being expropriated. The majority of the racial makeup in Latin American is a mixture of African, European and Indigenous blood. The star at the top of the door is a nod to the Puerto Rican flag as well as one of the stars in the Costa Rican emblem. #laspuertasdepaseoboricua#provokeculture
How was your Saturday night!? I work on Saturdays for my day job sooo night time was all about self-care! I made this superrrr hydrating face mask that felt very rejuvenating. Making the mask en mi cocina instead of going out and being a consumer (though thas cool sometimes) made me feel savvy since my abuelita used to blend herbs/mix up home remedies all the time! This mask is 1 organic avocado, 2 tbsp. organic coconut oil and 1 organic brown egg yolk. I left it dry for 30 minutes (I put it on my lips, too...it feels luscious and my babe says they're softer afterwards 😙). Swipe to see the results! I also worked on crafting a *new* vision board! I have seriously been mulling over what I need to see every morning to feel good about myself, my current place in life, and motivated about building my future based on my preferences and not just my needs! Phew. This is just the beginning...I'm happy with what I've got thus far...and I look forward to growing. This Solar Return is my year to acknowledge ALL facets of who I am and go in! What did yall do!? Like. I seriously want to know! Also....any tips for #VISIONBOARDS please drop 'em below! Graciaaaaaas! #diyfacemask#avocado#avocadofacemask#organicfacemask#diybeauty#goalsetting#saturdaynight#abuelitas#abuelitaknowsbest
