A day in the life of a monk in Angkor Wat. If you approach them, they will tie a yarn bracelet on your wrist while murmuring a prayer. Most people (if not all) would drop a donation of any amount afterwards.
Rainy afternoons Pinteresting away! Who else is obsessed with Pinterest? Now that I have figured out how to use it to its full potential, I actually sometimes enjoy it more than Insta 🙈

Gregory wakes up to the subtle chirping of his iPhone alarm. His head throbs, and cream colored skin sags beneath his eyes. He rolls over to the side of his bed facing the door. Just a foot from the point of his nose is a wooden nightstand. The chirping is coming from the phone atop the stand. He slowly reaches for the phone, tries to turn off the alarm, but his finger misses the button. He tries again and succeeds. His hand sits atop his phone as he drifts back to sleep. A moment passes. His eyes pop open. He throws his phone against the wall parallel with his head)
!! Crap (in a hushed holler)
(He frustratingly drags his hand down his face before getting out of bed, and getting dressed in his school uniform: navy polo, and light blue khakis)
Scene: Small western style kitchen with wooden floors and granite counter tops (Gregory leans against the countertop nearest the sink finishing a bowl of cereal. His backpack is on. His mother walks in)
What was that noise earlier "Gigi"?
...Nothing Mom. Just dropped my phone.
Against the wall??
Well... (Gregory pauses before taking one more bite of cereal and putting the bowl in the sink)
...not exactly, I guess... . Im headed to school.
...Have a great day honey.
(Gregory leaves the kitchen hurriedly, but stops in his tracks with his hand above the silver door knob leading to the front yard. He gulps and opens the door. A tall, lanky red head boy, wearing the same uniform as Gregory, stands at the door staring at his phone)
What's up Timmy? (Gregory and Timmy dap each other up before walking down Gregory's driveway towards the sidewalk)
Yo! Did you see this?? (Handing Gregory his phone) We could totally use it for our project!! It's this propeller that-
(Gregory pushes the phone away)
? You don't want to use the propellers? Look, I know we mentioned the engine, but I don't know if we-
Its not about the engine...its not about anything actually. Just not feeling it today
? Uhmm...alrighty dude.
(They walk in silence for awhile, Gregory tense and visibly struggling all the way. Timmy watches Gregory and waits)

So many things on the mind...mind's a world away... -and yet--nothing--on my mind- all at the same time. 5:25am, driving down the hill --speeding like a bullet --like a rocket--down the hill to the ferry. Guess what happens? ...So I'm not invisible.
Do I tell the cop, "I was daydreaming....." "You just have no idea Mr. cop..."
"I'm a director." "I'm a crazy person." "This is all just water off my back"? Well...I was mainly pointing at the ferry departing saying, "Um...I realllllly have to get to work this morning.." As he walks off & takes a century to look at my papers -I say to myself, "Alright, just give me the 1,000$ ticket. Just do it quick! Please -I'll thank you for it! I don't care... -throw it in, -just throw it in. Just throw it in to the cost of the show --throw it- go on--throw it-throw it in the car so I can highjack this ferry..." *Cutting it close much? *
5:35am Edmonds-kingston ferry, 6:12 get off ferry, (6:35am run out of the car at hood canal bridge and take picture of the crazy sunrise), 7:12am arrive in Sequim, 7:13am get gas because it's not my car, 7:20 return car, get ready quick, leave house at 7:30am by foot, running because GPS says walking is too slow, 7:51 change at work, 8:00am clock in and serve people their coffee.
Just a day in the life.

I help with lots of different projects in Shazam - helping identify things that could slow us down, keeping people talking to each other, keeping motivation and morale high. One of our biggest projects this year has been the second screen experience for Beat Shazam. It’s been a big part of my day to day this year. Also, here is some food.

Five years ago(ish), at a coffee shop in the small town of Siloam Springs, I met my best friend. She's walked through some pretty lovely, pretty horrible, and pretty weird times with me. And I'm eternally grateful. And right about now I'm thinking I just need to hop on a plane to Atlanta, or like, move there, and soak up all of the surrounding art and friendship. Ya feel, @iamemilyjune ?
