I learned a while back that self care isn't about beating up your body 🚫 It's about learning what works best for you and doing those things daily. ⠀ 
I can't control what my body does since 2 miscarriages...I can't help that my hormones went crazy, my adrenals became fatigued,  my body wasn't detoxing properly and it became stressed and tired 💤 But I can control how I support my body so it can fight its hardest. ⠀ 
For me, that means getting enough sleep, keeping my workouts on the shorter side, minimizing cardio, fueling my body with the foods it likes and staying away from as much toxins as possible.

Today, after much travel, a sick hubby, getting back in a routine and crushing my Monday, I needed SLEEP...so that's what I did. I didn't get everything I wanted to done, but I did the important things...like crushing a short workout with weights because taking care of myself helps me get errrrrrythang else done. Because I take care of me, now I can serve everyone else better❣️and that's something to celebrate!

If there is one piece of advice I can give when it comes to staying on track with your fitness and nutrition coming off of a vacation or any sort of travel, it's do NOT wait to get back in your routine...do it RIGHT away!

I know you feel completely overwhelmed (the house is a wreck, the fridge is empty, there is so much laundry to do and you feel exhausted already), but I promise you that if you wait it just gets harder. However, the sooner you put aside your excuses and #justdoit the sooner you get back to feeling on top of your game!

I've been reflecting on my own journey...how I used to be TERRIFIED of stepping foot in a gym. I can remember training for a half marathon without losing any weight and being SO disappointed. However whilst danger is sudden and short term, pressure can be sustained and wear down our bodies and minds day after day.

Chronic stress can result in exhaustion, lowered thyroid output, irregular blood sugar levels, muscle breakdown, increased blood pressure, sleep disturbance and reduced immunity to name a few so stress management should be a cornerstone to a healthy body.

Along with supporting yourself nutritionally, lifestyle practices can prevent or improve the physical effects of stress such as.

1. Time management. Prioritise the most important tasks and not try do everything at once.

2. Prioritise sleep. Set up a pattern of going to bed at the same time with using sleep hygiene protocols prior to bed such as no caffeine 6 hours pre bed,shutting off blue light sources such as laptops and using relaxation techniques prior to bed. .

Adrenal fatigue and crash is no joke and very common after the stress of it all. I have so many friends still without power and under water in Naples and Bonita Springs. I feel for you guys!

I taxed my adrenals (again) after a big move, 2 business trips, eating terrible, almost plane crash, evacuating a hurricane and wondering if we'd have a home afterwards (stinken media got me in a tizzy but I will ALWAYS evacuate if I can) this leading me to a severe case of the flu. Our bodies eventually shut down if we don't treat them right.

I've been trying not to complain to anyone about how I feel. 10 days of fevers and sickness can get to you but overall I feel so GRATEFUL. When facing any sort of hardship I know it's hard to find things to be thankful for but that's always what keeps me afloat. Illness, natural disasters, financial fall outs....they unfortunately happen. Sometimes we are so stressed all we can say is thank you for the sun, breathing, our family, a roof, clean water to drink. The more we focus on happiness for the smallest things, we'll find we can bare the hardships better and come out stronger.

Our mindset controls our bodies more than anything else but also, when the going gets rough it's so important to do what you can to take care of yourself. Take adaptogens, increase your quality probiotics and vit C, avoid GMO's if possible, drink good water, get 8 hours of sleep if possible, see your chiropractor.....if you feel burned out see your functional medicine doc or naturopath ASAP to help! I know some of you are still in the thick of it so it's hard but do whatever you can to take care of yourself ❤️

Hi guys, I thought I’d introduce myself & say thanks for following my journey. My name is Hannah, I am 32 & live in Bristol, UK. I am a lawyer (when I can work), a fitness junkie (not so much at the moment!), a recovering major caffeine addict, & former carb phobic. In February 2015 after over a decade of chronic stress, overexercise, lack of carbs & an inability to relax I gave my mind & body no choice but to almost stop working. I had a massive adrenal fatigue crash, or, as it was known, nervous breakdown which left me with no sense of a life for many, many months. I am lucky to be here. I had been documenting my return to health over on @hanzipans , however as I continue to improve I wanted to setup a separate account dedicated to my recovery, about what has and what hasn’t helped. I will also share with you other accounts that have provided me with added hope, positivity and inspiration. ➖
I don't purport to have all the answers. I am not a doctor. I am just someone who was hell bent on figuring out what had happened, & what could be done to fix it. At the start, I, like many sufferers, was convinced that there must be something I could do or take that would “fix” this debilitating exhaustion (amongst many other symptoms) that left me unable to move from my bed for many months, & my hormones all over the place. It turns out that it’s not as simple as that, and over time I will be sharing my journey.

As studies have pointed out, “It is frequently stated that it takes an average of 17 years for research evidence to reach clinical practice.” That means on average it takes 17 years for new research and advancements about health and medicine to actually reach your doctor and be put into practice.  By the time it hits their desk, it’s already outdated.

No one checked me for Hashimoto’s, I had to discover it myself.

And forget about the mold toxicity, because in conventional medicine, it doesn’t even exist.

We took a VERY long way to get this way, so it will take TIME (WAY more than you can even imagine) to form new patterns, new neural pathways, new habits. I'm over 2.5 YEARS into this so far. The more work you put in, the more "ah ha" moments you have the quicker you will heal! Healing takes patience (and yet more patience), so much personal work and growth, and an ability to accept what has happened had to happen. Only then can we move forward!

Type A stuck in sympathetic dominance ("on" mode) + colossal breakdown = the very best versions of ourselves. I have never believed anything to be more true in my life. Knowing what we achieved as version 1 of ourselves just think what we can achieve once we've learnt that much more about life, about stress, about the world, about ourselves! ❤️❤️

3 days ago I told myself I'm not drinking coffee for 30 days. Well it's day 2. In stock right now I have some black tea flavored with dried mango, some green oolong, and green tea from Vietnam thanks to @taooftea. My friend got me this tea set isn't it pretty? Anyway drinking too much plain tea seems to dampen my metabolism a little bit. I add milk and honey (not the book, but Rupi is certainly a great philosopher) to concentrate the fluids, which I believe helps. If the metabolic downside continues, I will simply drink less tea. I used to be mildly addicted to tea in the past, and would drink it when I was bored, hoping to burn more fat. Eventually I think I experienced fluid overload and this stressed my adrenals too. So I still have to be careful with drinking too much tea. But anyway, I hope to enjoy the digestive benefits while giving my brain a somewhat of a break from caffeine. I will avoid black tea too for now. Last thought: Gandhi saw tea as a mind-altering substance and preferred avoiding it, drinking Rawoulfia instead. I love how @selenagomez is sharing her story of autoimmunity and the awareness that it's creating. What I don't love is the potential message about treatment options that might be coming across.

I don't know her specific situation so the kidney transplant and chemo she is receiving for her lupus may very well be warranted. There is a time and place for medical intervention. But I do question what contributed to her condition and if there was something she could have done naturally to prevent the potential need for such invasive treatments - because the truth is that autoimmunity is a lifestyle disease and it's completely treatable with holistic and healthy lifestyle approaches.

Sure there is a genetic component to it and we can't control the deck of genes we were dealt BUT we do have the power to turn our genes on or off based on the lifestyle choices that we make around food, sleep, exercise, stress and how we handle our thoughts and emotions - if you don't believe me then read up on epigenetics.
