Old Bulls are sometimes pushed out of the herd by younger and stronger elephants. They roam the savanna alone. When they die, their family will come together and mourn. They will "Burry" the dead by placing branches on the dead elephant.
Just like all good things, this too, must end. Back on U.S. soil (for now) and hopefully a shower is in my immediate future. It's been an epic two weeks, brother man. This would not, COULD not have happened without you. Thank you. So. Much. Watch for more stories and great photos from our journey in the days to come.
Yet another Mara sunrise: name the animals!
When you are in Masai Mara, you can miss your breakfast but not the sunrise. The diversity of wildlife and the dust in the air makes for some spectacular animal-scapes. From a photography perspective, the challenging aspect is to find an angle where you are low enough to isolate the animals from the horizon while ensuring the grass doesn't eclipse the animals (and staying inside the vehicle). Well, getting the exposure right isn't trivial either as the sun plays hide-and-seek. You also need a good guide (thanks Chege) who knows which roads to take to get better vantage views, and have the ethics to not go off-road illegally. Now, who wants to go ahead and try to identify the two species of animals in the picture? - September, 2017
