Here’s another thing that’s awesome about summer... Aggies. And butterflies. They’re both bloody everywhere! Here’s a cheeky grab from Waterfall Gully in Adelaide. Look closely enough and you’ll also see a bee high-tailing it outta dodge! I took a similar one here same time last year after a sweaty hike up to Mount Lofty and was surprised how much I loved the location. As soon as the heat settles, I’ll be giving it another lash! Always good to chill with the critters after a stroll in @visitadelaidehills... 🦋💜 #waterfallgully#adelaidehills#seesouthaustralia#seeaustralia
We have a lot of agapanthus lining the front fence along half of our property. It really is quite a striking plant when you look at the flowers close up. Tried to find out its number but can't be sure which one it actually is. If you know, please do tell me.
Used to hate #agapanthus and dug up a full skip of them to banish them from the garden. But you know what, nothing will grow where they grow sometimes. They take the knocks and just keep on coming back. They spread underground and also to be doubly sure drop heavy loads of seeds after flowering. They persevere and flourish regardless of what goes on around them. There is something to be said for being hardy that I have to admire. Maybe it's time for them to make a come back.
My favourite painting at MoMa, NYC- Monet's "Agapanthus " 1914-1926. An incredible depiction of nature and it's beauty 🌸.
