#collegeadmissions tip #3 is prioritizing your future over brand names.
Putting stock more stock in the name of a college and less stock in your personality, learning style, and social attributes is extremely risky. Choosing a college should always be most importantly about yourself. While there are colleges that are statistically better and that should be a part of the process, it is much more important to choose an environment that will nurture and create a successful graduate. Basically, don’t just consider colleges based off of their accolades, awards, and numbers. Remember not to treat yourself like a statistic, choose somewhere that fits your lifestyle and will help you achieve your goals.
#collegeadmissions Tip #2 is make sure to visit.
One of the most underrated aspects of the college admissions process is visiting a campus. Understanding campus culture, and the feeling you get when you visit. Academics and numbers are surely important, but it’s more important to feel comfortable with the school in order to succeed there. Also, this is a great way to get an edge in the admissions process, if you visited and liked to campus an admissions counselor is likely to note this and understand you’re more likely to go there if accepted and more likely to be retained for your degree.
Tip #1 is apply early.
Applying late or just before the deadline can leave a student admitting in a pile with the other students who have procrastinated. Procrastinating and applying just in time can lead to sloppy essays, and admissions counselors to be rushed to make decisions. Give yourself an edge when the time comes. Actually if you’re at all interested in Texas A&M at Galveston there’s a link in the bio that will lead you to start the admission process, even if you haven’t made up your mind it can’t hurt to apply.
