Day three: Governor Jim Justice has declared a state of emergency in Wood County as a result of the former Ames plant fire, in turn Wood County Schools will be closed a second day because of air quality concerns. Also a water main collapsed downtown, resulting in a boil water advisory, and now Erin Brockovich has reblogged info about the fire and the nasty chemicals that were stored there. 📸@jacquemj

William asked me today if the fires were out, yet. I heard on the radio on Friday they are estimating containment on Tuesday - 16 days after this began. I read an article this weekend that said Wednesday. And, if I understand correctly (and I may not) containment only means they have the fire set inside a certain area not that it is not still burning. I unpacked our bags a few days ago. I feel relief we have a home. I continue to think of the little things those around us have to deal with. Unfortunately I am too sensitive to follow the news and groups too closely or else I may just start crying and not stop. I have seen and heard so many that have said they have driven through the areas and it’s worse than they ever could have imagine - despite seeing the videos and photos. I can’t imagine. I know what little I’ve seen has been unimaginable/surreal. I barely saw smoldering parts of the freeway as I skipped town two weeks ago. I feel like it’s been a long two weeks and things are a blur. Yesterday I walked by our back slider and a neighbor was BBQing. There was a HUGE cloud of smoke emerging and my heart dropped and my anxiety shot until I realized what it was. I felt silly. #sonomacountystrong#tubbsfire#nunsfire#pocketfire#evacuations#airquality
Still not going to do anything about it? ☠️ ‘India has topped the list of countries with Pollution-related deaths in 2015, with 2.51 million people dying prematurely in the country that year (2015) due to diseases linked to air, water and other forms of pollution...’ - The Lancet #MyRightToBreathe
Send good vibes and prayers(if that is your thing) to our fire fighters/1st responders. The old Ames shovel factory caught fire overnight. Twenty different fire districts from THREE different states have responded. This was a 420,000 square foot facility. It was being used for storage of some pretty nasty chemicals as well. Our entire valley is covered in soot, ash, and smoke. The local authorities are advising people to stay inside, because of the air quality, not touch the ash & that it could take days for the fire to be totally put out. 📸timgarretson via drone.
Why #ShimlaMC has put dumbers when it's actually burning the garbage on roadsides?
In year 2015, pollution killed 25 lakh in India - highest in the world. Air pollution caused majority of them.
However, there is no one who could stop sanitation workers of the Shimla Municipal Corporation from setting daily garbage ablaze in open. Despte knowing that we are already struggling with low #AirQuality and #AirPollution , the #HPGovt has nothing better to offer on the name of proper solid waste treatment.

In papers, a high-tech garbage treatment plant is operational in Shimla. The plant is converting the garbage into electricity, claims the SMC.
If the plant is working, then why SMC is daily burning the garbage? Sadly, the change in power at the SMC House has changed nothing at all. Spirit of #SwacchBharat is entirely missing.

If home A/C isn’t cold enough, it’s time for HVAC maintenance. With time & use, pieces of the home A/C system shift. Air not cold enough can relate to the refrigerant pressure setting. The pressure setting needs to be high enough to push and compress refrigerant for the A/C process. When the setting is too low, refrigerant fails to reach the necessary level to get very cold air.
However, the more probable reason is that the motors have gone bad, leading to conditioned air stuck inside the home system. The motors are stalled or burnt, so air doesn't move into the ducts, limiting air.
Home A/C that costs too much can signal a number of issues:
System hasn’t been serviced
Heat load is mismanaged
System is outdated

We all know that home air filters need to be changed at some point—but when? The industry recommendation is every three months, but the frequency greatly varies between households. To answer your question, we’re breaking down the ins and outs of A/C and heating air filter replacements at the #linkinprofile .
Buck Rock fire lookout is a must to visit while in Sequia National Park. On my first day of work in the park I saw this perplexing and facinating bee hive shaped rock formation jetting out of the trees. A closer inspection was needed! Turns out it is one of very few fire lookout with a paid person manning the station 5 days a week for 5 months each summer. Weekends are covered by volunteers. The views of the Hume Lake area, western side of the Sierra ridge line, and Fresno/Bakersfield valley area are imence and sprawling. The haze from the valley is dishartening and a reminder of our human influence on the world. Growing up in the mtns of Southern California and witnessing the smog from LA Blow through the Inland Empire was a disgusting site that has gotten better with more scrupulous air quality standards. But to witness the affect of our states agriculture and industry on the Fresno area air quality is disheartening. By the looks of it, I'm thinking the same air quality standards are implemented on our ag industry.
