It's really easy, actually. To decide what type of person you want to be. To choose how we should be known as a country. Or how you want this world we're living in to one day be remembered.
It's easy to find the answer, if there was ever a question--in the history of places like this. Where people chose valor and integrity. Where they chose the hard thing, because it was the right thing.
If you're confused about what deserves our support now, look at what we valued enough in the past to remember.
The October late afternoon sun lights the front of the historic Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. William Menger opened a brewery on the former Alamo battlefield in 1855. 4 years later he and his wife opened the 50 room Menger Hotel. Back in October I photographed the Red Bull ‘Last Stand’ crit here in downtown SATX. The location of the event allowed me to capture spectacular views of the athletes riding at speeds of up to 40mph around Alamo Plaza. What neat location have you photographed any kind of race? So....I just had the best bagel I've ever tasted....like the bagel I've been looking for all my life, it was THAT good. Completely unexpectedly found, on a short driving break, totally unassuming little place, 'Bagel Street Cafe,' at the Alamo Plaza in Walnut Creek, CA. Taking a bunch to family and will definitely be back.
