For the last year I've asked for permission on some block management land here in the valley. I've had many encounters and flung some arrows with no cigar. Today is the last day of archery season and in between guiding and working on gear it doesn't leave much time for my own hunting. Today I pulled into my spot, saw a few deer feeding across an open face and I made my stalk. I beat them to an open flat spot where I nestled into a little rock outcrop with a bush or two. 5 minutes later a spike an a 2 by 2 started feeding towards me. As the spike fed towards me I knew my wind was good but only until a point. The spike caught my wind and started to sniff me out. The 2 by 2 carelessly fed behind the spike and I knew this was my one and only chance. I drew back settled my 50 yard pin on the buck and squeezed the trigger gently. WACK! The buck went down like a sack of potatoes! The buck must have jumped the string and I must of had the jitters but he took an arrow to the back of the head, boom done! I'm happy to be able to fill my momma's freezer and to have another blessed day in the woods #causeimamountainman#meatinthefreezer#fieldtothetable#harvest#2ndarcherybuck#montanawhitetail#canofcorn#tellyafriends#kifarulife#10minutehunt#guidelife#rambo#alaskaguidecreations#twobearoutfitters#firstlitehunting#hoyt#savage#roccella
Sitka Gear meets Alaska Guide Creations
Took a little time to make some modifications with these two harnesses but happy with the end product! Some cutting and sewing is involved. Had to swap out the 1” buckles to 3/4” to fit the Sitka bino harness. Also cut the Sitka Bino harness to fit better.
And like that, the first deer camp of the season is over. Just a quick over trip but so fun. I believe in documenting the wins and losses and I’ll continue to do so. You don’t always come back with a full cooler but the experiences make your life full. Yesterday, 4 does at 68 yards right at last light and I did not feel comfortable sending it at that distance. This isn’t a game and you don’t take chances like that. The animal you are in pursuit of deserves every amount of respect. This morning I sat in the climber with no action at all. Wind was swirling at times N/NE so that could have been a factor. On the positive, I did find some very promising scrapes right by the climber. That may pay off this year. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Before I left , I marked some spots where I had hiked on my @onxhunt app. I am so thankful for this app because I can see all property lines and stay in my lane. I had a really good day and a half there and tried to make the most of it. I’ll be back soon. #fueloutdoorgear#fuelyourpassion#fuelcrew#yeti#hoyt#realtree#nomadoutdoor#alaskaguidecreations#easton#uahunt#ramtrucks#dodgeram#trophyridge#nalgene#ragebroadheads#huntnc#whitetail#bowhunting#youdontalwayswin
