Rhodes had a few incidences with cheese so we decided to do an in-office dairy challenge. Rho and baby both did a great job drinking milk through a syringe and passed! #RhodesAdeline#allergytest#allergykid
Real talk: an incorrect order can be disaster for us. We ordered this meat and bread only because paprika is in American cheese, commonly used at fast-food spots. (We only bring these home now and give her safe cheese at the house) Luckily, the mustard that got incorrectly added on mine wasn’t on hers too, or we would have had to throw it out. Mustard has paprika as well. I talk a lot about sugar with our girl, cause it’s definitely what caused our biggest issues leading to all the questions (and is in EVERY.THING.), but she’s got 10 reactors total and they can be hidden in all kinds of places. We’ve learned so much over the past 8 months and I’ve talked to so many people along the way that are curious about what life looks like for us, so here’s a pretty good example. Paprika is in: American cheese, goldfish and cheese it’s, hot dogs, and mustard...as well as “spices” so often listed on just about anything. #foodallergies#allergykid#fare
These two have come a long way with their allergies.
I remember when store bought sushi was far too scary to consider buying, and would end up in eczema flare ups or reactions, but now they can do safe, plain sushi as a treat when we are out.
before 2017 ended we had a big scare with his allergies but it's ok my baby is so smart & for his age he can tell me when something is wrong and he is only 3 but I never gave up ii may became frustrating but never did i let that stop me from making every appt seeing all his doctors and not missing a beat but I knew 1 day it would pay off...I posted that pic in Oct and thursday i finally got the ok that he come off that formula and thickner after 3 yrs & 3 months after surgeries, therapy, etc....2018 is going to be a great year of health for my baby I can feel it and I'm so excited #EoEdisease#mybaby#allgeries#allergykid#thesmartestkid#iteachhim2baware
When daddy looks after the kids and gives the kids the dairy free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream without reading the ingredients because he assumed it was safe. He is NOT in the good books (of me OR SY!). Of course it had soya in it... so now SY’s skin looks like this. She’s so itchy and sore 😢 thank goodness the only bit in the ingredients was almond and she’s generally ok with those! #soyaallergy#eczema#eczemasucks#allergykid#allergymumofgirls
New post up on Facebook- check it out! It's for those of you with allergies to know that people are thinking of you, especially with school beginning again soon and the holiday season coming to an end. 👍
Guess why we’re all smiles?!? Just got news from our allergist that we are 💯 egg allergy FREEeeeee!!! Yayaya! It’s been a long road and after 7.5 years, 1-ER visit and countless label/ingredients reading, our hard work to avoid eggs has paid off! Blood work came back and he is a big fat ZERO! Next step: trying a hard boiled egg. Now our focus is his peanut allergy, which the doctor says could be gone by next year.... (OMG) crossing fingers!!!
To say we’ve had a rough day would be an understatement. Finally got into see the allergist, and it’s a lot more then we thought. I’ve already cut dairy and eggs the last 5 months, and we’ll be adding the remaining of the top 8 allergens to be cut. It’s going to be a hard transition for us both. Say a little prayer that she’ll grow out of all (or most of these) as she gets older. My heart aches for my sweet baby. 💔 #CarolinePaige328#allergykid#top8free
Today my child said words to me. That absolutely broke my heart.
She said to me in the car. Mommy I wish I could eat strawberries. For some of you this may mean nothing. And For those of you who don’t get why this tore my heart out. It’s because she’s allergic to them.
Until today. She has never wished she could have a food she couldn’t. I work so hard to make her food amazing. Making everything from scratch. Learning new techniques. And learning a million and one ways to take the same ingredients and make them new.
But what’s most heart wrenching. Is that she is this way because of me. She has the issues she does because of the way I lived, the food I chose to eat, and the highly toxic chemicals I was bathing in everyday.
Even though Sofia was born into a completely non toxic environment. We had already removed all toxins. Ate healthy and chose to take care of our bodies when her sister was conceived three years prior.
But yet my child still came out sick. I choose to never use that word to describe her because I don’t ever want to speak that over her. But she is. We are on a healing path. To undo all the damage that has been done.
But the fact is. What we do to our bodies no longer just effects our own bodies. Because of the toxins, the preservatives, the vaccines, the pesticides, the EVERYTHNG!
The fact is. I can’t change how I grew up. Or the choices I made before. But I can do everything in my power to make sure she stays healthy and heal the damage that has been done.
I will forever educate people on the effects their choices of food, soap, makeup, cleaners, lotions, perfumes etc have on their health and their children’s and the generations after them.
The fact is all the toxins. Whether environmental or put on or in your body are changing you. From the inside. They are changing your DNA. Google epigenetics to learn more about it.
But what you use on your body, in your home, and put in your mouth no longer just effects yourself. They will forever change the children you have and their children’s children.
So I beg you. To change the way you live. So no one ever has to live the way we do. #allergykid#sahm#bethechange

As I am not normally a baking person practiced my daughter’s bday cake for this weekend. I made vegan gluten free chocolate cake with doTerra Wild Orange essential oil. It added a really nice orange flavor that goes really well with the chocolate. I love this combo.
An afternoon treat for the little man while the rest of us scoff birthday cake 🎉 🍰 He just happily sits there eating his cookies and raspberries telling everyone, in a chirpy voice, that he is allergic to cake. These are chickpea cookies made mostly with a can of chickpeas and a few other ingredients. They were yum.
So happy for this girl! After seven months of complete avoidance of dairy and egg (and me wondering what life would be like without mac and cheese), my Rho tried cow’s milk for the first time today! 🐮 🥛 #RhodesAdeline#allergykid
My #4 . My warrior. He started with a hard pregnancy, a tough delivery, an infancy plagued with mystery illnesses, took ambulance rides and had hospitalizations before he was 2 months old after his first vaccines. His toddlerhood was filled with anaphylaxis and Epi-pens, needles, nebulizers, specialists, and medications. Now he's turning 5 this spring, and he hasn't been to the hospital for almost 2 years. That's amazing. He's still a medical outlier, no diagnosis fits the big picture. He's a big mystery. He's afraid of eating most foods because he is scared it will make him feel bad so he chooses to go hungry more often than he eats. He has chronic headaches and gets every bug that goes around, but he's also strong, resilient, brilliantly smart, so very funny, AND HE'S TURNING 5 THIS SPRING! For some reason that just blows me away. #sonshine#medicalmystery#allergykid#vaccineinjury
HARD | GAPS is hard. It is so hard. The amount of strength you need physically, mentally and emotionally to stay the course and believe in healing - when at times it feels like you’re not progressing at all - is just down right damn hard. It can be such a lonely journey. Especially because it is so very different from the standard recommended diet. The fact that I am “still” breastfeeding an almost 3yo raises eyebrows too. And then there’s Noah’s intolerances. Allergies people understand easily enough. But when I tell people that the slightest bit of fibre causes irritation for Noah, and he needs to stay on stock, meat and liver until his gut recovers enough to tolerate more foods baffles people. I think they think I’m crazy. It saddens me when I can tell people don’t believe me. I can tell they think I am hurting and/or depriving my child. If I try and defend myself and/or explain my decisions then I get accused of sounding “preachy”. That hurts too. But if I don’t defend myself I can literally feel bits of my strength chipping away and god knows how much I need to hold on and keep believing. But the absolute hardest, HARDEST thing, is when family express their concerns. It doesn’t help that Noah is struggling with eczema at the moment. He doesn’t look the picture of health. Then family ‘see’ him eating the same strange food and they worry. I have to keep reminding myself how very different he is now, how much developmental progress he has made and not judge him based on physical factors. Someone help build me back up again because I’m losing my faith and it hurts 💔💔💔 #whatsnoaheating#allergies#foodallergies#foodintolerance#allergykid#allergykids#allergymum#allergymom#leakygut#guthealth#guthealing#healing#healingwithfood#foodismedicine#gaps#gapsdiet#gapsintro#gapskids#gapslife#gutandpsychologysyndrome#heartbroken#losingfaith#ithurts#praying#staystrong#ijustwantmybabytobehealthy
