(18/30) Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink, Manchester.
A distinctive tram stop within a landscaped park setting that enhances the passenger experience. Two elegant staircases, a new lift within a green walled enclosure and a transformed bridge link provide improved access to the elevated stop. The scheme's distinctive living green wall rises 11m tall, signalling the stop as a green oasis within the city centre. At platform level, the landscape combines green Cumbrian slate platforms with sedum tray panels between the tracks to create a green track surface. The planting also includes trees and a wildflower meadow #30in30
We designed this! What does that mean.....see the half closed screens- we devised the system and the size of those screens to disappear into a concealing pocket in the ceiling. See the big opening in the wall to the outside? We designed the cantilever for the whole 2nd floor, so that corner of the building is free of a column, that the sliding glass wall could pocket into the limestone wall that wraps from outside to inside (oh we designed the size of the limestone panels so that they would not have one strange cut on the whole building.....)with the door track that is flush from inside to outside..... see the table, there was a tree on site that was dying, which we had harvested, dried for a year, made into the table top, placed on a base we designed, integrated into the kitchen we designed, had made by Siematic in Germany, convinced the client of the appliance package, selected the light fixture, stood on top a ladder for hours to get the light from Italy just right, specified the trimless recessed light fixtures, convinced the contractor they could be installed, worked with the lighting controls peeps for the control setup ( do this... we know the client).... yes we had partners who built what we designed, but when We say We Designed this that is what We mean......Without the client the wind for our sails would not be blowing.... oh this project was built and installed in 11.5 months.
