Monday Motivation post....✌🏾Month 12 of my New Years resolution to get fit is sneaking up on me. I’ve missed some of my favorite foods and turned down more lunch dates than I would have liked to. But seeing my body transform into something I didn’t know was possible is an emotion I can’t explain. The better part is I’m mentally stronger because I know I can motivate myself and push myself more than I ever have before. No one forced me to do that extra set, run that extra mile, or not eat that tub of ice cream. The truth is we will work our butts off for the things we want in life. The people who see the real results are the ones who are consistent and patient. All that to say, as the new year is sneaking up on us. Finish out 2017 crushing your goals. Don’t use the holidays as an excuse or wait for New Years to set a new goal. Decide you want whatever it is bad enough and start right now. #youvsyou
Training at work today so I was outside on a range all day, followed by a killer leg day so here's a lame picture of me trying not to die during roll outs. Also, I had to break out my xl nike bag from my swim and track meet days bc I've turned into that powerlifter with a gigantic bag of stuff 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ leg day #1 this week consisted of: low bar squats 5x8@195, sumo deads 3x6@200, 1 leg kb deads 3×10, hip thrusts at 135 superset w/ leg extensions with pointed toes at 50 for 3×12, roll outs 4×10. If there's one thing I recommend auditing, it's your decision making strategy - specifically your "why".
For a large part of my life, I made choices that I thought would lead me down a successful path but only according to other people's criteria of success. I didn't have an "opinion" on many things. And when did, I buried it if it contradicted even slightly with those around me. I observed what others deemed acceptable and made that the standard I "should" live up to.
Here's the actual issue. There is a great deal of strength in numbers which is why change and adaptation can be difficult. Crowds and large group don't change collectively as a unit. Change usually occurs within an individual and overtime can potentially be passed around micro segments.
It wasn't until I realized just how unhappy I was that the root of the issue actually occurred me. I wasn't making any choices that were true to me. I was very much in a way idle and working towards building a life that felt distant.
My biggest goal is the desire I have to be true to myself. Trusting myself and my instincts has made every aspect of my life that much more satisfying and has allowed me to become aware of what weakness can potentially hold me back. If there's one thing I encourage you to figure out right now, it's why you're doing whatever it is you do. What is your drive? Do your actions support your goals? Because if they don't, then change them. It IS that black and white. If there are obstacles preventing you from working towards your goals, address them. .
There is no excuse to build your life any differently than you actually want it. If you can begin to believe you have a choice in all of this, then you've taken the first step. .
