It's at least 20 degrees cooler at the base. Hike up in a tank and get a tan. At the peak there's an icy chill. Time to suit up. The whole tour up you're searching. Where's the best snow? You only get one ride down. And even in a world of white there's a color show. The valleys so green. I swear I've never seen colors so vibrant. I must have new eyes.
Get up sleepy head! Epic Go-Live's got me sleeping the day away. Getting myself to the mountain was half the battle. I could barely hear her. I slept through 8 alarm clocks. Quick randonee up to Windy! And now my heads clear and my Sidkicks are growing on me. 🗻❤️️⛷
The most genuine and inspiring people are those who have overcome some great tragedy. They learned to thrive and overcome chaos rather than survive it. They don't let their setbacks define them. Instead they are stepping stones they climb as they rise to greatness. Today my body is bruised and my mind is beaten. But tomorrow I'll set the world on fire.
There's nothing like camping in the snow under a clear sky, surrounded by the rugged North Cascades, with no other human within miles. Despite the forecast calling for strong winds, this night beneath Coleman Pinnacle was delightfully calm - I got up after midnight and walked around outside the tent in just my long underwear, enjoying the stars and the quiet. A magical moment. North Cascades National Park, New Years Eve 2015.
With the winter season coming to a technical end, the snow just won't quit. What I thought was an end of season tour on Rainier with the talented @materas and @h20_pnw, is turning out to maybe not be so. The face on Rainier I had my eye on may be able to be reached this season afterall. Never do I get tired of Mt Rainier and all it has to offer.
I can't help but think if our politicians spent any amount of quality time in any of our public lands and National Parks, reveling in their wonder, how different our public policy would be. The impact that John Muir had on Teddy Roosevelt and the time they spent in Yosemite had a profound impact on conservation and shaping policy. I wish someone would take our elected officials into the backcountry and just show them. Let our natural wonders speak for themselves. 📷 @materas #skiing#touring#winter#snow#backcountryskiing#backcountry#skitouring#alpinetouring#snow#activelife#explorepnw#upperleftusa#getoutside#pnwonderland#explorepnw#cascadiaexplored @cascadiaexplored
Acceptable overhed blower pow in Blackcomb backcountry with @sharonbader and @jamescattanach. Pow was slayed and cornices respected.
Temps spiked +5 in 2 hours so pulled the plug early but still had adequate quantity of diamond dust turns
A wise man advised me not to go back to school. "You make good money as a nurse and have time to play. All I do is work." He's gone now. Damn. Life is fleeting. One moment you're here and then you're gone. So I'm going to live each moment to the fullest. I always wanted ski in sports bra. Check that off the bucket list.
