What does home mean to me?
A person, place or mind frame?
A space to humbly sit and be?
Some know exactly what home means to them
Envy sets in
My definition morphs and bends
A resting place for the soul
Until reality is a bore
Again, I envision more
Manifest more... Until less becomes more
Too much stress
It's time again to rest
Recognize all that is blessed
Find a mate
Inner reflection changes soul direction..
Oh, but this eb and flow..
Will it ever slow?
The only thing I know...love
LOVE, I know for sure.
Is love home?
Trained Willa to give kisses but she only does it for the treats 🙄
Lately she's been sneaking out the back window and lounging on the roof. Of course that means every morning at 6am the morning traffic sees me stooped over in my night gown running back and forth on the roof. Crazy cat lady: accomplished. 💁🏻
A week late but suddenly realized it's now been over 1 year and 6 months on the road 💃🏼 Can't believe how my life has changed since leaving the 9-5 and making this life a reality 🙏🏼Feeling grateful every day for having the opportunity to explore and learn from this amazing world 😻
"I'm the best photographer...." It's tough having such dull subjects..... But seriously, I LOVE this girl. I'm so glad i found this longer-legged, brunette, yin to my yang twin flame of mine!
These ladies. ❤️ Here are a group of ladies with hearts for Jesus, the Word, and for others! They are such a blessing, and I'm blessed to know them. If you are considering being a part of Renew, here are your study leaders!! We are so excited for what God has in store as we jump into another year of bible study together! #alpinewomen#renew#aclz
Sunset at Quilotoa Crater 🙏🏼🌄
First, a note on this lake- Once summiting the volcano, we were welcomed by Quilotoa Lagoon's brilliant turquoise colour. After debating whether we should stay the night or leave- we opted to stay. During sunset (and later we noticed sunrise), we were delighted to see the lake was new this beautiful deep milky grey 😍 So grateful for our decision to stay the night and see this lagoon in all it's shades of beauty (along with a gorgeous sunset and beautiful sunrise) 😉
Now, latest update. Still in Iquitos (Peruvian Amazon) and just returned from spending a few days in a jungle community. Celebrated the completion of 6 months in S America and now relaxing in the city for the next few days before heading west on the Amazon River 🚤
The Salkantay Trek is a 5 day/4 night trek. This is a very unique trail as it traverses Andean highlands, passes snow capped mountains, descends into high jungle with coffee, banana, and avocado plantations, walks along part of an original Inca Trail, visits Llactapata site, and has a beautiful view of Machu Picchu from the site. #killaexpeditions
Can't believe the Prince of Wales (aka King Edward VIII) chose a ranch to stay at during his Canadian visit and snubbed the hotel named after him in 1927. Did he see this view?! Pink and orange clouds dominated the skies during my backpacking trip on this day. Which also happened to be my birthday. All to myself, while my friends caught some Zzz's. 😊
No amount of online research I do reading trip reports, scouring Pinterest for photos, and looking up hash tags on Instagram can prepare me for how floored I get when I finally see a view or lake in person. Maybe they need a VR of some of these spots so I can relive it 😋
A DOG ALMOST ATE WILLA! We were hiking with her perched on my shoulder; a dog trotted up and sniffed. We were nervously like "good boy" but then Willa growled. He looked up at her and LUNGED AT MY SHOULDER knocking her off. He shook her in his mouth a few times (thankfully his teeth only got her nylon harness and didn't leave gashes). Chris fell on top of the dog and wrestled him, and I grabbed Willa's leash and dangled her up in the air over my head. We stayed like that for a minute: Willa growling and swinging back and forth in the breeze, us trying to figure out what to do next. Turns out that dog had blood trickling down his muzzle from Willa, and once free, Willa received respect.
//I've stopped using Lightroom's healing brush for my zits/scars and it isn't because I'm trying to make a statement or suggest that the ambiguous state of "natural" is morally better. I'm just over caring about removing the crumb of granola on my lip etc etc. Maybe eventually I'll care again and that's fine. In the meantime I'm not processing my photos one freckle at a time; I'm wearing zero makeup in this pic and I'm fine with it and I'm just announcing it so that if you're plumb tuckered out from caring too, you know that it's ok to get lazy about the whole beauty construct. K that's all bye.
Ladies, we are so excited for Renew this fall!! God is in all of the details! We have loved planning and praying for the year ahead! We SO hope that you will join us!! Be looking out for more details and registration in the month ahead! Can't wait! #aclz#alpinewomen
350 more hours until @joelle.raquel and I are storming Chicago's Taco Bells and trespassing in all the pretty fields. We don't have much on the itinerary, except to go dip in the river, and I'm planning on forgetting a swimsuit. #summerdidnthappenifyoudidntskinnydip
// What's the one summer that forever changed you? Tell me!
🏔️😱So much snow for July! Always like climbing up to get a view of where we're camping, it always puts things in perspective.
Post is up from last weekend's overnight backpacking trip in the Mammoth Lakes area - bit.ly/ducklaketrail
I've decided to accept a job offer in LA. This means pulling up roots and feeling them rip. The Pacific Northwest is part of my spine; I've grown into myself here and both are tangled together. The first night after I got the phone call and knew in my gut this would be right, I cried. I played Bon Iver, the soundtrack of every night falling in love with these people and mountains, and cried. But adventure is calling and now I'm taking the positivity train to SoCal. 🚂
It's been an adventure of a lifetime with all of you. Thank you for making the PNW a dream! Five weeks until I'm outta here; text me for one last adventure ✌🏼️

Adams was awesome, humbling, beautiful. After last weekend's crazy weather camping at lunch counter for a two day summit attempt - we went for one day dash. We started at 2am under a clear sky, had beautiful sunrise colors lighting up the surrounding mountains and summited around 9am gaining 7,877ft in 7 hours on the winter trail. So much fun
🏔️🏔️ Visiting Colorado? We had such a hard time picking just one trail in Rocky Mountain National Park, but it certainly did not disappoint. Just updated the blog with a post on the Emerald Lake Trail😍🌲bit.ly/emeraldtrail
