Thank you to my amazingly awesome gym members for your charitable donations for my race. $438.70 donated to the American Brain Tumor Association this evening!! My 70.3 will be used to honor my dear friend Aleesa Forsee who lost a courageous battle to brain cancer. Her fight changed my life forever and the way I deeply cherish health and wellness. @kalynfo1 on Saturday every mile goes to honor our girl!
Today is an amazing day. It's less amazing for us, in that none of us get to celebrate with Mark and hear his infectious, boisterous laugh. Fortunately for Mark, he will be celebrating the best birthday of his life up in Heaven...and I know there's going to be one heck of a party today! Every one of his birthdays I would celebrate with him, I would always tell him "I love you, brother," just to remind him of how much he meant to me. It was always that way with Reed, Mark, and Michael, and still is.
As weird as it is, I can remember so many more of Mark's birthdays (than even my own) from years past, because even after we went to college, we always got to celebrate his in the summer. This will be a day I will never forget for the rest of my life.
In honor of Mark's birthday today, I started a campaign. This campaign will coincide with my #GreatBritishAdventure run across three countries in July. If you feel called to give, please help me to raise money for the American Brain Tumor Association, to support brain tumor patients and their families. I hope and pray that we can find an end to this disease that took one of my favorite people from this earth. And on Mark's 30th, I kicked off the donations with a $30 donation for each of his 30 wonderful years of life. The donation link can be found in my bio.
This day and every day, Mark: I love you. I miss you. And I'll see you in Heaven one day. #SmithStrong
We have recently brought back Bella Mente, which is Italian for "beautiful mind". For every bottle purchased, $1 will be donated to the American Brain Tumor Association. This is just another thing I love about #travelingvineyard 🍷 Our #bellamente#pinotgrigio comes to us from Venezie, #Italy . Brilliant pale yellow straw hues in the glass with floral aromas with added notes of ripe melon, fig and date. On the palate, hints of nectarine and a lovely thread of mineral freshness underneath. New world in style with good weight, feel and extraction with a long melon and nectarine finish. ITA699
ONE YEAR. For most families, June is the start of summer and for them summer means Freedom, Fun, and Vacations. But for us… June is hard. Miserable even. A year ago today, we heard the worst words any parent wants to hear… that our four year old son had brain cancer and would ultimately have surgery less than twelve hours later. Our world came to a screeching halt as we had to discuss what would be next for our son- would he walk again? Would he ever speak again? Would he have years of chemo? What would this do to our daughters? Our family as a whole? These are just SOME of the questions- because there is no way I could even explain or quantify the mass amount of questions or concerns that come into your mind during that time. But, today, one year later I do have answers to some of those questions.
Here are his #firstyearsurvived stats: -MRI scans: 5 (6th by the end of June)-New Doctors: 6 (high five to Cincinnati Childrens for being AMAZING) -Chemo Treatments: ZERO-Birthdays Celebrated- One-Days where we were overwhelmed with gratitude that he is able to walk and talk and play like any other boy: 360-Days left until we can say he is Cancer Free: 1,460
This life we live now is hard, very hard, and I cannot even remember what we stressed about before June 2, 2016… But today- we celebrate the fact that the momma bear instinct kicked in and we found his tumor 365 days ago.
This is Penny's story. She is a fellow LuLaSister from our team. Come join us for a great cause 😊💕🦄. Hello everyone,
Thank you for joining us for this awesome fundraiser of spreading love and support. I want to give you a little back story of why I love this organization. Ten years ago our lives changed forever. If we did not have the love and support from the American Brain Tumor Association(ABTA), we would have been lost!
There were no symptoms, no warnings. The two weeks prior to his diagnosis my father kept getting lost and confused going to his job. On May 4th we were referred to a hospital 2 hours away. We were told to pack a bag and plan for a rough journey. Little did we know that 5 hours later my father, Allen Aycock, would be diagnosed with a very aggressive and scary brain tumor, Glioblastoma Multiforme IV. The next 26 days changed us all and we owe so much to the ABTA!
Ten years ago, if you were diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme IV you were given less then 30 days to live. Your outcome was grimm and poor. You had no fighting chance due to the placement of the tumor and how fast growing the tumor would grow. Chemo and radiation would only give you about three more months to live.
My father choose to live those 26 days surrounded by the love and support of his family. As the youngest in my family I vowed to spread the word, fund raise, and shout from the mountain tops to raise awareness of this horrible disease. I truly believe that my support, as well as others, has taken that 30 days to live into years!!! The research and technology over the last ten years has amazed me and I know my father would be proud!
So on my father's ten year celebration of his life, please join us on May 30th to spread the love with LuLaRoe and raise money for the American Brain Tumor Association!!!!

We spent our morning volunteering for an amazing cause. Getting the chance to meet and talk to survivors was an unforgettable experience. Even if you don't have the time to volunteer, there are other ways that you can give back! Find out how at www.abta.org OR www.mnbraintumor5k.com #mnbraintumor5k#americanbraintumorassociation
Brain tumors are the most common form of solid tumors among children under the age of 15 and represent about 20% of all childhood cancers. A child who has a brain tumor may be eligible for a life-changing wish experience. #americanbraintumorassociation
