Happy Diwali! :) Diwali is here again. I hope that people in India will choose to celebrate a green Diwali and not burst crackers mindlessly. It's common sense that it clogs our lungs, hurts the animals and is totally destructive for the environment so I don't understand why people still continue to do this. You don't need to be a scientist or a scholar anymore to know that India needs to take care of it's natural environment. The forest covers are fast depleting, the rivers are drying and animals are endangered. What are billions of Indians going to do with out water? Bhumi Devi, Goddess and mother we call her, are proud of our culture and even boast of our ancient heritage BUT exploit our own goddesses, our own mothers. That's plain hypocrisy! If you are proud of your Indian culture & heritage then first respect the goddess, the mother that feeds your belly and quenches you thirst. Without her, we will not survive. I know writing a post like this is not going to make much of a difference but I hope and urge the people who read this will look into their own lives and do something about it. Each person counts. We can MAKE A DIFFERENCE by greening our houses, balconies, planting & caring for trees, car-pooling, using public transport, shopping ethically, not wasting water, generously supporting organisations who are cleaning rivers, taking care of animals, protecting forests, supporting our farmers, buying local produce and so much more. Do something, don't wait for someone else to do it first.
And we are back! After an amazing three weeks with my family who came to visit Peru and finally(!) meet Marco & his family. We managed to visit a few museums and saw some INCREDIBLE ancient pieces of jewellery (like this crazy gold + silver septum nose piece from the Moche culture). So now we're back, the shop is open as normal & we are full of inspiration from all the amazing things we have seen!💜
//Regresamos!
This is a necklace originated from a Mongolian Shaman priest. It’s over 200 years old. By definition a Shaman is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing.
This necklace worked its way thru way thru China and India and settled in the mountains of Peru, handed from one Shaman priest to another, exchanged as spiritual gifts. The stone is a rare form of Shungite, having a long history of spiritual powers. I saw a gentleman wearing this necklace a year ago in a business meeting. I knew what it was. I Introduced myself to this man who has been extraordinary successful in business and a former SEAL TEAM operator, I discovered an incredible individual that we seemed to have lived in paralleled universes. Our life experiences were like replicated fingerprints, including both living in monk monasteries studying martial arts in China. We both lived in Russia having similar operational experiences. He has spent his life studying shamans from almost every culture on the planet. It was quite unusual how we instantly connected. We have spent hours talking about life experiences that few people only dream about. He drove to see me this afternoon, and passed this wonderful gift to me. How fortunate am I that I can have these insanely interesting people in my life. I will cherish this relic and one day before I die I will pass it to special person that will carry this to another generation.💕 #shamanism#shaman#magicalpowers#healingpowers#trance#clarity#poweriftgemind#meditation#ancientcultures#mystical#thirdeye#sugnite#healing#connectionwithnature#spiritualawakening#pilgrimage#indegenouspeople#visions#martialarts#spiritogtheanimal#hiddiss
Geeky/slightly gory one - you have been warned! Unexpected questions raised at a pre-Inca historical site in #Miraflores , Lima yesterday. This temple was built by the Lima people nearly 2000 years ago as a religious and administrative centre. No money changed hands in this culture, or the #Wari culture who conquered the Lima's and built their own layer on top of the #Lima pyramid. We (Vicky, Lorna and me) were so shocked to learn that mothers aged 12-24 were mutilated and sacrificed, with hands, feet and heads severed and put with seeds to appeal to the gods to let crops grow in the only city in the world drier than #Cairo . Question 1. Why just the women? Question 2. Were the sacrificees ok with this arrangement or was it forced? 3. If it was forced, why would the women in this society not run away? 4. If it was not forced, does it mean that being a part of this society was more important to survival than life itself? Additionally, the Wari also sacrificed young children to ensure important members of society went into the next life with purity. Question 5. (And the most unexpected) how much can we/should we/must we remove our own cultural values when considering the lives of ancient (and long lost) cultures and peoples? More history and questions than I expected when visiting this pyramid still half buried under a mountain of stones and dust. The archeologists were around the corner of this picture still uncovering more of it brick by brick! Interesting fact - the bricks are stacked horizontally with air spaces between to protect the structure from earthquakes. #pyramid#temple#ancientcultures#lostcivilisations#historicsites#SouthAmerica#travelandlearn#instatravel#archeology#architecture#citycentre#history#travelling#peru#travelgeek#somanyquestions
So look I have a controversial thing to say, I don't believe the way mantra is being taught today is the correct way at all.
I feel like affiliate programs putting their wings over yoga teaching programs are making it way to simplified and when yoga teachers want to "return to roots for the modern day" there are no roots to return to because it's been taken out of the curriculum.
I believe Allen Danielou and Paul Brunton have far more insightful teachings of which would never be recognized by a studio. These men deserved Nobel prizes because future generations will come to find their teachings far more beneficial to humanity than any scriptural text will ever be.
