A male Pyrrhuloxia, sometimes referred to as a desert cardinal, perched tall on an old weathered branch in the desert of Southern Arizona. Pyrrhuloxia are at times mistakenly identified as female Northern cardinals, in Southern Arizona and Texas their ranges overlap. .
I often get asked if birds are all I photograph. The answer is no. I post my other photos to @jc_places and @jc_nature.
Birds out of this world - This is my first encounter with fantastic looking Long-tailed Slyph, a species which belongs to Hummingbirds. When you encounter a such beauty after a long and tiring day, it takes everything and all your focus and you keep saying how beautiful you're, what kind of a bird you're and the most beautiful bird on earth! Probably it's one of those 🙂 In Ecuadorian mountains, it's the best way to end a day. A good lodge with some feeders. In background you hear the drumming of Powerful woodpecker. I was lucky enough to see a pair from terrace of the lodge! 🙂 Where should i go next?

Another beautiful bird that I often find in the pacific side of Costa Rica during my tours. While it's not very difficult to find one it is often very difficult to get a good picture. Got very lucky on this occasion with a patient bird that posed for a while before flying away. This image was shot from the roof of a terrace that helped me get a green bg, which was reached using a shaky ladder, so much for the right image!!🤣

Shovelers gonna shovel.
Northern shovelers are dabbling ducks with large, specialized bills. They draw water through the front of their bills and comb-like projections called lamellae capture invertebrates and seeds as the water passes out the sides.
This male is sporting his breeding plumage which makes him easy to distinguish from other dabblers, even at a distance.
Here is a sweet Moose Calf looking all proud after crossing the water with its Mom!!! It was such an awesome experience seeing them cross and then climb up on a Beaver Dam!!!
