There's red, and there's green. There's no yellow choice.
RP from @the_vegan_soldier - If someone's not completely vegan, they're not remotely vegan. They are non-vegan. There is no need to add insult or offense to this definition by creating and using what are honestly nothing more than slurs when describing non-vegans. There aren't different categories, and catchy (and insulting) nomenclature is not going to convince them to listen to any reason why they need to live vegan.
As vegans, we need to refrain from calling non-vegans by titles which not only create needless hostility, but also terms which imply that there are different types or degrees of non-veganism. Referring to flesh specifically (as with meat eater or carnist) suggests that consuming flesh is morally worse than any other animal consumption or exploitation. This promotes reducitarianism. If we are not mindful of our message, it won't be received consistently. Non-vegans don't automatically know what we mean when we speak with them about ethics. We cannot allow for any confusion, and preventing confusion is as simple as careful use of language for the sake of clarity.

“Pigs are highly intelligent animals who often outperform dogs in learning tests, but in the meat industry, they're treated like machines rather than sensitive, living beings. If this farm goes ahead, 800 of them at a time will be crammed into each of the two proposed buildings, which will measure only 61 by 15 metres. There, they'll be denied the chance to do anything that comes naturally to them, such as playing, exploring their surroundings, foraging for food, and building nests for their offspring.
Frustration and the stress of extreme confinement can drive them to engage in aggressive behaviour such as tail-biting, so farmers routinely cut off their tails and clip or grind down their sensitive teeth, often without painkillers.”
‼️Friday 20th is the deadline for objecting to this cruel proposal‼️

Nutter Butter wishes you all a wonderful #Roosday ! Nutter Butter has a real rags to riches story. He used to live in this industrial lot behind a Taco Bell in Tacoma, in a feral colony of chickens. They survived on what they could find and the scraps of white bread they were given by humans that worked on the property. They were allowed to breed and roosted in trees and on top of RV’s at night. When they started to become a nuisance to the neighbors, someone eventually got in touch with us and we made 2 trips to the area to catch what we could, 10 in all. Our Tacoma crew had it rough, but now they enjoy the best life has to offer!
@Regranned from @the_vegan_soldier - To start, I'd like to make it known that this is not an attack on any activists or their actions. As vegans, it's our responsibility to examine our methods as we go, mindful of what approach best helps all sentient beings equally, because none deserve more or less moral consideration than any other.
Many (or most) activists start off with single issue campaigns, devoting our efforts to every worthy individual cause we see. Of course, that's understandable at first. But our message needs to be clear and undivided, because any confusion in that message only further confuses non-vegans who already don't fully understand what being vegan means. When a non-vegan encounters a single issue protest, they're left with one message: that whatever single issue was being protested is worse than any other. They aren't looking to make a connection, they only want to console their conscience. If we tell them fur is immoral, they'll be content to wear leather. If we tell them dolphin captivity is inhumane, they'll still be content with the far more brutal captivity of every other "farmed" species. If we tell them foie gras is torture, what does it say about the suffering of every other animal exploited and killed for their flesh and fluids? The answer? It says nothing, so they think nothing of it. If we tell them Yulin is the most barbaric act of cruelty on earth, we're diminishing and disregarding the plight of billions more animals- animals most people in every country actually pay to exploit.
Another problem is when activism is fueled by ego instead of ethics. When an activist values their activism over its outcome, it's a clear indication that their ego is in control. It's empowering to feel heroic while standing on the street and shouting on camera, telling the world "I was here, I did this." But it's not about us. It's about the victims of exploitation. When activists themselves are the focal point, instead of our message, there's no consideration for what's actually best for the animals. While civil efforts to educate and raise awareness on veganism as a moral imperative aren't as glamorous, they are the most effective

Regrann @angelitovegano - @vegancri - When Germany holds its General Election [the Bundestag election] on September 24, for the first time ever the voting population will have an opportunity to vote for V-Party3, the world’s first vegan political party.
V-Party3, whose motto is ‘We Love Life’, was founded on April 30, 2016 in Munich.
Led by chairperson Ronald Wegner, the group stands to transform legislation concerning the environment, the economy, and animal rights. It calls itself the Party for Change, Vegetarians and Vegans and the ‘3’ in the party’s title is meant to represent the diversity of life.
Vegan Party3, however, wants to make the slaughter of animals completely illegal by 2030.
The party's manifesto suggests the seeds of positive environmental and ethical change can only be sewn by avoiding the creation and use of animal products altogether. Both these aspects feature in its wide-reaching Agraragenda 2030, which insists on a switch to bio-vegan agriculture by 2030.
"It is most decidedly not just a plant-based group," confirms Jennifer Nielsen, Federal State Chairman of the V-Party3 in Hamburg, "although establishing a plant-based diet for all German citizens is a party policy, we essentially believe that no animal deserves to die, and so it is a vegan, not a plant-based group." The commitment to placing animal rights as one of the focuses of the group reveals the deeper beliefs that V-Party3 is based on. It looks to effect real change by placing the needs of all sentient beings first and foremost.

New tattoo 😍 I get asked this a lot when I am doing activism: "Why don't you animal-rights people spend your time helping humans?" Implicit in such a question (it's really an accusation) are the beliefs that a) Humans are superior to all other species and b) Those who work to advance the interests of non-human animals are misanthropes or at least they don't care much for their fellow humans.
Actually, every animal activist I know understands there is a direct link between animal liberation and human liberation. They know that violence against animals frequently precipitates violence against humans; that vivisection is a barbaric and dangerous practice; that eating animals and their secretions (eggs and dairy products) is a major contributor to human diseases; that while an estimated 750 million people go to bed hungry every night, a third of the world's grain is fed to farmed animals; and that our subjugation of animals has led to a host of human tragedies, including euthanasia killings, genocide and slavery. Not only are animal activists aware of these realities but, unlike most people who waggle their fingers at us, we're doing something about them.
This tattoo represents animal and human liberation ✊🏼❤️Thanks for the incredible work @blackdragontattoostudio

Today I had a job interview at a company that praises itself for sustainability, they recycle a lot, use bicycles, green cars and try to save energy wherever possible. However when I asked about their consumption of meat (biological but still), they reacted very shortly that it's a matter of personal choice. What do you think, when it's about another creatures life, is it still a matter of personal choice?

It's gotten a little chilly here in Buffalo the last few days (at least for me 😨) so I've been craving warm, comfort food 😋 What's more comforting on a fall day than chicken noodle soup? @amyskitchen No Chicken Noodle tastes just as good and comforting as the real thing! Try it out if you haven't already ✨Also, can you guys guess where I got these fall place settings? 🍂🍁 #decoratingonabudget 😂
There will be another rodeo protest at the entrance of Cow Palace in Daly City this Friday, October 20th at 6pm (not shown in pic). And on the 21st there's 3 AR events happening, hoping my fellow vegetarians and vegans that live around here can join us to one (or more) of these 🙌🏽. I do plan to be at the rodeo protest on Friday, & at 'The Official Animal Rights March' in Berkeley on Saturday. But I'm still not sure if I'll be at the AV Berkeley cube, or at the rodeo protest in Daly City on Saturday evening, since they're happening around the same time, wishing I could make it to both 😕. If you can just make it to one I hope it'll be the March, bring a friend if you can, and an animal rights sign for that one, & wear a black shirt. Also, lmk if you need me to dm you the link(s), or send you more details to any of these, thank you 🙏🏽. ⤵
