Owners Jen and Tray Federici operated a small beef cattle ranch and despite trying to be very selective about who they sold their cows to, as they always wanted the best for them, the couple was caught in a moral conflict. How could they be animals lovers and still send cows to slaughter? That’s when they decided to only eat meat if they slaughtered the animals themselves. Still, they couldn’t find a resolution and were unable to cope with killing an older cow they had selected.
That’s when Jen and Tray decided to swear off meat and have turned their 100-acre ranch into a paradise for animals called the Surf and Turf Sanctuary. Amazing!
Now, Jen and Tray are committed to rescuing as many animals as possible and providing a loving, safe home for them. The Surf and Turf Sanctuary is now home to longhorn cows, calves, pigs, goats, chickens, and zebras, along with other rescued animals.

ATTENTION NYC AREA! These shelter dogs were evacuated from Texas due to Hurricane Harvey and are available for adoption at the @aspca Adoption Center in NYC.
Last week, the ASPCA assisted in the transport and relocation of 19 shelter dogs from Houston to the ASPCA’s Adoption Center in New York City. These shelter dogs -- all unowned and homeless before the hurricane hit -- were initially evacuated from Corpus Christi, Texas before Hurricane Harvey devastated the area. They were awaiting transport to shelters and rescue groups to be made available for adoption.
All interested potential adopters are encouraged to visit the ASPCA Adoption Center to learn more. All adoptable dogs at the ASPCA are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered. Potential adopters should bring one government-issued photo ID (i.e. driver’s license, passport, military ID, or non-driver ID), proof of address, and contact information for a personal reference. Adopters must be 21 or older.
If you’re interested in adoption, please visit www.ASPCA.org/Adopt
