Post War Japan, including Shinzo Abe's should not be seen as an Asian example of Democracy. Japan after World War 2 kept its basic elements of Fascist tendencies and it's another example of Neoliberal politics. In fact, Abe's Class A War Criminal grandfather, Nobusuke Kishi, who was a top official of Manchukuo, A puppet State of Imperial Japan which was widely known for its Brutality and Monstrous acts that was carried out by Kishi himself, was nicknamed as "America's favorite War Criminal". Abe is particularly shocking. Although denying the War Crimes(such as Nanking) and mass rapes committed by The Showa Period is not a new thing in Japan, Abe took it to an extraordinarily level. High level of Racism, Utter sexism and bigotry especially against Chinese, Korean, Malay and Filipino people is well integrated in Japanese society, a tradition that has been kept for centuries from eras like the Muromachi, Edo, Meiji and Taisho periods, which Abe gladly espouses. Cold War Japan, after the American Occupation was strongly altered to highly undemocratic tendencies where the Liberal Democratic Party, the party that ruled Cold War Japan violently suppressed opposition such as Zengakuren, a Radical Student Organization that was strongly opposed to the Japanese Government, Its Imperialist ambitions and the American Military bases. Japan, like Germany, is not allowed to take part in Military Actions in Foreign lands and therefore its Remilitarization is forbidden, but Abe seems to be too keen to do the opposite. He was a member of a grouping called Nippon Kaigi, which is a Far Right, History Revisionist extremist group who want to return to the pre WW2 era. This kind of grouping is very sadly quite influential in Japan. This zealous type of Dangerous conservatism and fascism can be traced back to Japan's Isolation from the World. It is a country that was ruled by various Feudal lords called Shoguns from the 1100's until 1868. More precisely there was a policy called Sakoku, that was enacted in the 17th and was only dissolved in the mid 19th century, but until then, no foreigner was allowed(a thing still somewhat common) to enter and trade with rest of the world was limited.
So let us talk a bit about the land of the "free and opportunities". After WW2, The US, though it executed some Nazis, later on began to employ them for governmental posts. An act called HUAC(House Un American Activities Committee) was established and was particularly very strong between 1947 to 1956(after that came the Cointelpro), but generally speaking it existed long before WW2 and it was only in 1970's when it was completely dissolved. That period was called the McCarthy Era, which received a reputation for being too oppressive and authoritarian even by American Standards. This period was characterized with massive and ubiquitous surveillance, large censorship, False and greatly exaggerated accusations, endless arrests, unemployment, imprisonments and various other human rights abuses. It was famously described by an infamous odious and alcoholic bigot called Joseph McCarthy, who had an obsession with "red threat" and with lies about Communism. The Soviet Union also committed horrible acts against civilians, but unlike the US, which did the same thing, the Soviet Union at least was honest about its intentions and did not presented itself as "the guardian of freedom" in a very hypocritical way like the US, and Communists or any sort did not possessed a threat to the US, it wasn't even minor, it simply did not existed. It was a time when many suspected Communists, Socialists, Liberals and Anarchist were routinely harassed in every form because the states fear of"communist insurgency" which of course was a far fetched nonsense. Famous people like Albert Einstein, Charlie Chaplin, Thomas Mann, Dorothy Parker, Gypsy Rose Lee, Allen Ginsberg, Leonard Bernstein, W.E.B Du Bois, Robert Oppenheimer, Luis Bunuel and Paul Robeson were all deeply affected and persecuted by McCarthyism. This utterly regrettable phenomenona was nothing more than gross abuses against Civil Rights and Human Rights, and it also targeted Homosexuals, Women and Anti Segregational movements. #us#antifascism#hypocrisy#antinazism#instasize#history#mccarthyism#instadaily#instapic
I believe that it is not necessary to write anything to illustrate the image, but I will dedicate a bit of this happy and blessed day (Franco's death aniversary) to write about it. Do not think that by establishing of a Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant and Fascist dictatorship, dictator will win the favor of God. The fascism is always fascism and no religion can justify it (although there are miserable clerics bent on defending it). Fascism condemns its followers to the darkest and tragic region of hades: beyond the terrible and inhuman fire of the Ghena.
I wish you all a happy day full of spiritual blessings
What we see today in Yemen is a huge War Crime, among the biggest in the 21th century. This phenomenon is absolutely vile, inhumane, disgusting and an abominable crime against humanity. Saudi Arabia and the US once more commit a horrendous and grotesque act against innocent people and children to an enormous extent. Their war crime should be stopped at once and Saudi Arabia, The US's puppet state must be boycotted immediately. The US hypocrisy is just too shameless. It possesses a major threat to world peace, always had and I very much doubt that it will ever stop in the near future. US Imperialist Fascism must come to an end and get out from Yemen.
"Stupid White American Men" is the title of the first image, in reference to Michael Moore's book. Kaihara Hiroshi was a rare creature in Japan: an artist who made a career openly expressing his hard left beliefs after the collapse of the old left in the 1960s. I know him through his paintings of peasants in Belarus after the Chernobyl disaster. Current show at Gallery Furuto in Ekoda, Tokyo, surveys his cartooning and illustration work for magazines from the 80s to his premature death in 2005. Nakasone, Reagan, Bush Junior, and Koizumi repeatedly skewered. Also Putin and the British royal family. Even Tsuge Yoshiharu makes an appearance, in a series of pictorial book reviews. Kaihara was one of the few artists with the guts to directly criticize the Emperor; he was involved with an anti-fascist group that advocated for the abolishment of the Emperor system and putting Hirohito on trial for war crimes. On the sunny side, Kaihara was art director and lead illustrator for a magazine about organic foods and related food politics. Love the show's title: "If the masses love you, something's wrong." Sadly, Kaihara's breed is all but dead in Japan. #hiroshikaihara#galleryfuruto#manga#yoshiharutsuge#貝原浩#ギャラリー古藤#反天連#昭和天皇#antifascist#antifascism#江古田
Is Antifa a terrorist organisation, and should the members of Antifa be charged for acts of violence at their protests more often?
Anti Fascist Action (Antifa) is an organisation that can trace its roots back to anti fascism movements in the 1920s and 30s, when the likes of Oswald Mosley (UK), Adolf Hitler (Germany) and Benito Mussolini (Italy) attempted (with two of them being successful) to ignite fascist revolutions in their respective nations. After WWII anti fascist movements fought against the likes of the KKK in America - but since then has become increasingly more militant and has risen to prominence since the 2016 U.S. Election and the result of the Election.
Antifa has challenged white supremacists and nationalists at Berkeley and multiple other locations around the U.S., and generally targets anyone whom they deem to be 'racist'. Through their acts of violence and the suppression of free speech and protesting, I do believe that Antifa should be labelled as a terrorist organisation - and they fit the definition perfectly; the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as "the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives." Antifa regularly commits acts of violence and force which are debatably unconstitutional and therefore they should be considered a terrorist organisation by the U.S. Government.
To conclude, I do believe that the U.S. Government should identify Antifa as a terrorist organisation and should treat them as such. Just like there's an 'alt-right', there's also an 'alt-left'. Partners:
