Burdock 🍫 Adzuki Bean 🍫 Brownies = Adzuki beans + Dates + Dried Burdock root + Cacao + Flax seeds + Coconut oil + Vanilla + Dark chocolate chunks 🍫
Burdock (Arctium lappa) has historically been used to treat diabetes, hair loss, wrinkles, and inflammation. Currently, there are studies that detail the constituents of burdock: the anti-inflammatory effects were attributed to the compound arctiin which was found to lower the concentration of tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6 and promote collagen synthesis in human monocyte dendritic cells and dermal fibroblasts. 🍫
I love everything about burdock root, I love the its sweet, earthy flavor, i love its texture, I love how it helps flush excess water from my body, and I love how it calms my skin. I usually enjoy burdock root as a tea but one day I decided to pair it with another superfood, adzuki beans, and the combination was incredible. Adzuki beans have an impressive nutritional profile and epidemiological evidence has linked diets that are high in soybeans, adzuki beans and mung beans with reduced cancer risks. These red beans have a sweet flavor that pair well with cacao and dates and make a delicious brownie. The beans provide sweetness and a chewy fudge-like texture. I haven’t been able to eat any other type of brownie since I created this combination. 😋
Mediterranean Roasted Broccoli 🥦 w Tahini Lemon 🍋 Drizzle, comin in hot! (As @imwithkelly would say 😂Sometimes it’s just a matter of getting CREATIVE with our vegetables to keep things interesting (and delicious) healthy eating is NOT just about boring steamable veggies & tasteless chicken breast. SERIOUSLY! If we limit ourselves to the same 3 foods all the time, we get bored PLUS we’re not really getting enough of the various amounts of vitamins and minerals in the entire plant kingdom 🌱(and yes, it is an actual kingdom of amazing foods to taste and try)!
So if you’re getting bored of “salads”, or “steamed veggies”? 💁♀️pickup some broccoli, cauliflower, brussels, parsnips, sweet potatoes, onions, rutabaga, squash, etc. and just ROAST them! It is by far my favorite way to enjoy veggies.❤️
Drizzle chopped up veggies with olive oil, salt/pepper and roast in the oven at 350-400 for about 20-30 minutes (depending on size of your veggies).
To mix it up, I actually make this little dressing almost ROUTINELY when I have roasted broccoli, because it’s pretty darn easy and always always a favorite!!
Make extra drizzle to add to salad or extra leftover veggies for tomorrow (aka a “power bowl” like I’ve shared in previous posts!
1-2 Lemons, squeezed
1 clove garlic, minced
2 Tbsp (or more) sesame tahini
2 Tbsp water
Whisk in a small bowl. Season w salt/pepper!! .
Two questions: #1 . Do you know what you want, (if it wasn’t for the hard work, for the sacrifice, for the time, for the money, etc.), What would you want your life to look like? #2 . Are you willing to do what it takes NOW, so you can have it later? You don’t have to comment below, although I would love to know the answer. 💜🙌⚡️⚡️⚡️

Ok so this stuff doesn’t look the most appealing but let me tell you how amazing it is to use for sweetening baked foods! I used this date paste for the pear muffins I made last weekend instead of any sweeteners and it worked so well.
All you need is:
🔸 1 cup pitted dates
🔸 1 cup pitted prunes
🔸 1 cup boiling water
Simply blend it all up to desired consistency and store for up to 2 weeks in the fridge!

Yum I love this recipe! It satisfies that cheesecake craving but without dairy.
Did you know pineapple contain bromelain which is an anti inflammatory compound?🍍 And remember, this is very nutrient dense dessert so, yes it is healthier than a regular cheesecake but doesn't mean you can have more than a regular serving. It's still calories!
Raw Pineapple 'Cheesecake'
1.5 cups raw almonds
6 pitted dates
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Combine above ingredients in a food processor, streaming the vanilla in while the motor is running. When the mixture begins to ball on the sides it’s ready. Transfer to a spring-form pan. If you don’t have one, a glass brownie/cake pan is fine. Use a flat bottom bowl…or your hands… to press the crust evenly into the pan. Work the crust up the sides.
2 cups raw cashews, soaked 1 hour and drained
4 cups fresh pineapple, chopped
3/4 cup raw honey
1/3 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup extra virgin coconut oil
Place above ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor and process until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Scrape the sides down with a spatula. Pour half of the mixture onto the crust and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until the filling sets. Top with chopped pineapple and prepare to be blown away

Confession time. My purse is a disaster area. All the time. You never know what you might find lurking in its deep, dark corners. (I mean, whatever you need, or not, is probably in there.) Sometimes that works out to my benefit. Like today on the way to the #chiropractor when I remembered how sore I was about to be. #ouch But then I remembered this bottle of #natural#antiinflammatory goodness was still at the bottom of my purse and all was well. #glory 🙌

If you want to control the food on your plate, surrender.⠀
It seems counterintuitive but it actually makes the most sense:⠀
When we are obsessed with “getting control of our eating,” it is usually because we feel out of control internally.⠀
Something is hurting, afraid, or stressed inside and it often feels like too much to feel! We can barely handle being inside our own skin!⠀
So we try to control our environment to get a break from all these feelings. We look for relief outside ourselves by:⠀
- creating fake arguments in our heads with other people, being angry, or blaming them for our circumstances.⠀
- numbing out our feelings with food, alcohol, entertainment, or escapism.⠀
- then believing that we’d feel in control if we just didn’t overeat every time life got hard. “If I could just be a size ___, then I know I’d be happy and none of this sh*t would matter!”⠀
But that’s not how it works.⠀
When we try to "control our food” or our environments in order to feel better, we are looking outside ourselves to solve an internal problem.⠀
We are looking for answers in the places they aren't.⠀
"But BJB, if I DON'T get my eating under control, then I will eat myself into oblivion! I can't let that happen! I can never surrender!"⠀
Not only have I heard that, but it was my first thought when I learned this life-changing truth years ago when I was working so overcome a serious eating disorder that was destroying my life.⠀
The truth is, if you are still overeating at night, on the weekends, and when life gets hard, you already aren't in control of your eating.⠀
Trying to exert MORE control hasn't worked so far. Why would it start working now? (Doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of "insanity," remember?)⠀
The good news is that our controlling thoughts and behavior are simply habits we developed at an early age. But they are just habits.⠀
We habitually want to control and as a result, we fall victim to our own controlling behaviors.⠀
In this month's guide, I give you the exact steps to surrender control. It's "The Emergency List" technique. ⠀
Get it free at the link in my bio.
This makes me literally laugh out loud...but it’s true!!!😆😆 All joking aside, carbs are a food that should no longer be feared and banished for good!
So instead of throwing out the brown rice with the cookies, here are some big benefits on why you should be keeping them in your diet:
✔️Energy - Your body’s most efficient way of producing energy is through the breakdown of carbohydrates. Your brain and nervous system can only use carbs as a primary source of fuel. It’s why if you’ve ever tried the low carb diets, you’re often left feeling sluggish, tired, and irritable… yikes!😔
✔️Maintains a Healthy Weight - Good carbs are full of fibre which leaves you feeling fuller for longer, and slows sugar spikes in your bloodstream. Whole grains naturally satisfy you, so you’re less likely to snack or binge on unhealthy foods. Many studies have also shown that whole grains boost your metabolism.🙌😀
✔️Improves Digestive Health - The fibre in whole grains keeps things moving and prevents constipation, but it also binds to toxins before they get absorbed into the blood and head over to those fat cells. Extra bonus with that fibre - it helps promote gut health by nourishing your good bacteria (probiotics). This is why diets rich in whole grains can help relieve IBS and other digestive issues.
So are you warming up a little to those good carbs? 🤔
Here are some good ones to keep in the diet:
Fruits and vegetables, Brown Rice, Quinoa, Millet, Buckwheat , Lentils, and Beans!
So let’s release those carb fears for good and start accepting this food group back into our lives!🤗
