Antiquities often amaze me more than modern technology. Computers go obsolete in a matter of years. There's always a new update, new features, more capacity. It serves its purpose for a couple years and then we replace and upgrade. But with antiquities, their very definition is that we have continued to value them even thousands of years after they were created. They served an original purpose and have now found renewed purpose.
I feel a renewed spirit whenever I visit a fair like TEFAF. As an art history major, it's amazing to me that objects from the 4th century BC and fragments from an Ancient Egyptian building - objects I studied in class and saw on archeological tours - are available for sale. Don't steal my idea, but the next great private museum must incorporate antiquities with contemporary art. The influences are undeniable and their juxtapositions are natural.

Last year, when I was in NYC, The MET was at the top of my list of places to visit. No way I was leaving NYC without going. It’s a place I had been dreaming of visiting for a very long time. When I went there, I spent 3/4 of time in the Egyptian Antiquity section and along with the Impressionist exhibit, they were the only things I sawed . Egyptology is a secret passion of mine and I have been in love with Ancient Egypt since I was 11 years old. So while The MET has been on my list for a long time, Egypt has been on my list for a lot longer. I’ve decided that next year, because I’m turning 30, I will finally go. I’m going to go on the trip of my dreams. #egypt#nyc#travel#bnw#themet#ancientegypt#antiquities
