The last time we were in #EasternEurope was last December on a weekend trip to #Poland . It's crazy how fast the time has flown by..We're finally getting around to a little #personalpost of our time there -- letting you in on our secrets and of course sharing some travel tips too. You know where to check it out 😋😘 #arboursabroad
Don't forget to look up. So often we keep our eyes glued to the ground, our phones, or even what's just directly in front of us. Next time you get out, take a moment and look up, you never know what you might see. ☝️#arboursabroad#vantrails
The Christmas before we moved to Scotland, my sister gave us a sign that said, “Adventure Awaits”. To this day, that sign hangs in our van reminding us that around every corner there’s an adventure to be had. ..
When talking to people about being here in Romania, we get the vibe that people think we’re off our rockers.. that we’re crazy to be here while Jay’s in the middle of writing a dissertation and I have a never-ending pile of work to get done. ..
But here’s the deal, life’s an adventure to be lived, and whether we’re here or there, as long as we’re getting done what needs to get done, that’s all that matters. We have yet to see any of the city/country more than what’s off our balcony or on the way to the market, and yet, we’re so happy to be having a new view to enjoy while working away. ..
Will we eventually get into the city and experience some of the Romanian culture?? We sure hope so, but for now, it’s grinding away at this dissertation and a new launch on the website! ..
When we do hit the city, we’ll share photos from there, for now, enjoy this one from #IsleofSkye a while back! :) ..
We’ve talked and talked about going to #London for a quick trip just for the food.
And, we’ve always wanted to take a long train ride through the country just to enjoy the views.
So Friday, we decided to stop dreaming and just do it.
Yesterday’s train ride through the country was so nice, and man, let us tell you.. Dinner last night was SO good! #worthit
Now onto things like writing a dissertation and planning the rest of our working holiday. ..
Success is a funny thing. When we let society tell us what’s deemed successful and what’s not, we aren’t living our life the best way we can. It’s not until we set our own standards for success that we live life to the fullest, and can stand proud in what we do. ..
We want to share hope, encourage others, and spread the good in the world through ArboursAbroad, and if we can reach just one person we’ve done our job. ..
After reading an article last week that @thebucketlistfamily shared, we couldn’t help but speak out and speak against what “success” has become. Have you given it a read? If not, check it out in the link up top! ..
And hey, give a little think.. If you stop letting others determine your success, what new ways would you be successful? ..
This week has been a reminder that in the midst of the chaos it’s important to slow down.
Over and over again I’ve found myself on my knees in prayer. ..
-Praying that the lives lost in Vegas would somehow bring Light to the world. -Praying for people in this world to find not just love, but the Lord - because that’s so desperately what this world needs. -Praying for Jay as he prepared and gave his final presentation. -Praying that my dad made it through surgery fine, when it was more than 24 hours before we heard he was doing well. -Praying for my heavy heart as we near the end to our time in this program in a place I didn’t think we’d be.
-Praying for peace in the middle of what only seems like the opposite in the world. ..
This week, I’m reminded that when we sit back and take time to reflect, when we stare out into the world with only the unknown before us, when we sit with our coffee without a to-do list by it’s side.. that’s when we find peace. That’s when we see there’s good in this world. That’s where our hearts can rest. ..
Take some time today to find a little slice of peace for yourself. ..
It's this guy's 27th birthday today 🎉 .. We had birthday cake as a mid morning snack 🎂, had a take out pizza date (on campus) for dinner 🍕, and are currently shutting down the library staring at our computers working away 📚. And, even though these may not be things society says we should do to celebrate a birthday, it's still a chance to celebrate life at all.. Today's still a special day because we've been given another day to live and enjoy the blessings of this life we live. ❤️ How are you celebrating your life today?? #arboursabroad#vantrails
