Blue is just about half grown now! He’s gotten so much larger in the last couple years that it’s hard to believe he ever fit in the little water bowl he used to curl up in. He’s so big at this point that he’s got free roam of my bedroom – he spends most of his day meandering back and forth between his basking light and his cage – which now serves as a container for his water tub and a secluded place for him to sleep. He’s got about six inches of coconut chip bedding and a few towels in there to give him a bit to burrow down into.
Livin’ the life!
Here we have Riker, our black and white Tegu enjoying some chicken parts. Tegus enjoy a large variety of foods in their diet and raw chicken or turkey bits are some of their favorites. He probably scarfed down half a can in under a minute.
So these guys are essentially a dog with a lizard body. Wonderful animals!
