Art teachers, sometimes for one reason or another or maybe for NO reason at all, there are just some artists that never land on your planner, am II right? Well, Charley Harper was one of mine, for no particular reason I was never sure I wanted to teach about him & his work. But today changed all of that silly none-sense! •
What you can’t see is the glitter. We all agreed that yesterday our snow looked like it had glitter on it, so today the snow our cardinals were in had #glitter , #lotsandlotsofglitter and we were all better because of it 💫❄️💫
Did you know that exams don't alwayd tell go smart you are?

We discussed Mark Rothko with the elementary art students over at @coconutgrovemontessori last week! Rothko disliked for his art to be labeled, yet he is regarded as one of the leaders of the “abstract expressionism” movement. We discussed how the large scale of these color studies/paintings were meant to envelope the viewer into an intimate experience to provoke a feeling. I challenged each student to consider a feeling they would like communicate through their painting, and to choose the colors that would best express it. I can’t wait to show you all the amazing work!
