There are so many different ways to enjoy Matcha- that bewitchingly green powder! Let me count a few of my favorite ways: as koicha - thick paint like tea; usucha - a thinner tea. In a Japanese Tea ceremony, or chanoyu, Matcha can be prepared either as koicha or usucha, depending on whether it is a formal or informal tea gathering. In a formal gathering called chaji, both koicha and usucha are served. Matcha that makes exquisite koicha consists of the youngest leaves (or 'pinnacle grade') to minimize astringency when drinking Matcha in such a concentrated form.
Matcha lattes are a far cry from the traditional ways matcha is drunk, but are an undeniably fun (and healthy) way to enjoy a dose of matcha too! (And the matcha we have chosen for you to try some matcha lattes with, is so high quality, it makes a lovely usucha too!)
