Take me back to Te Hapua. #artsandcrafts#studio Was this also the trip where we talked about my self esteem? @tewakamcleod I think your reply was something like, “well that’s a stupid thing to think, isn’t it” #thanksbabe#goodtalk#mpa
A beautiful corner in which to shelter from the rain.
I found this spot next to the orangery at Standen, a quiet place to sit and read or to look out over the gardens. Have a lovely Thursday, everyone.
Let me start this post by saying I am not arty...never have been...I stopped art at school as soon as I could and despite trying a few colouring books when I was waiting for my transplant as a distraction method I was never very good at staying within the lines or maintaining interest 🤦🏻♀️
That said #objectsfororgans , a campaign started by @just.isla.and.i on the discovery that a childhood friend had died from Cystic Fibrosis while on the waiting list for a lung transplant, is a beautifully creative way of highlighting the need for more people to consider organ donation.
She writes of her friend and the campaign:
‘Sadly this is also the case for many people in her position. But how many people really put signing up to become an organ doner at the top of there “list of things to do”? Would it even cross your mind?
With that in mind I am on a mission to raise awareness even if it encourages 1 person to sign up that could one day save some ones life? Save a whole family from the heart break!
I know the power of image and the even bigger power of Instagram - everyday all of us influence other people - we inspire people, we all grow & learn together will.
Do you want to help? Is this something you are interested in? If it is here is what I have in mind
* use your own creativity to style an image with the hashtag #ObjectsForOrgans in mind.
* post the image to IG (and other platforms if you use them) using the hashtag #ObjectsForOrgans ’
So here it is...dreadful (follow the # for MUCH better examples)...but the purpose behind it remains...without organ donors and people like Adele raising awareness I wouldn’t be here today ❤️ ...So get creative and post your #objectsfororgans ...or don’t...just think about it and sign up to be an organ donor.
A piece of unique Scandinavian design history. On the market for the first time in over 100 years!
These earrings were made by Johan Rohde (1856-1935) the Danish painter, lithographer and designer for his wife sometime between 1909-1914. They were subsequently passed through inheritance to his son and then grandson.
Made in a style called Skønvirke after a Danish magazine, established in 1914, for the arts industry. The term is used for a particular Danish style direction; a mixture of Jugendstil (German), Art Nouveau (French), Arts and Crafts (English), on the one hand, and Nordic National Romanticism on the other. The style flourished in the same period as the national romance, ie. ca. 1895-1915.
Besides being a prominent painter Rohde also played an important part in the development of Danish craftsmanship with his high-quality silver designs for Georg Jensen as well as furniture in both classical and Japanese styles.
The earrings are Johan Rohde for Georg Jensen, a pair of exquisite earrings, 18 kt. gold, length approx. 5 cm. Total weight approx. 10.3 grams. Comes in orginal box. Stamped GI 765 and 18K, stamps from the period 1909-1914.

The cloisonne stained glass is an artistic technique developed at the end of the 19th century, starting in the United Kingdom brought to Catalonia by the modernist decorator Frederic Vidal.
It consists of placing small colored glass balls following a drawing fixed with glue between two glass panels that after being sealed, form a finished piece. The technique had a short life due to its difficulty of realization and conservation.
In its collection, the JM Bonet workshop has some cloisonné stained glass panels like for example this one.
I finished the prayer box. My friend Carlos bought me the box and supplies to create it. The image on the top is a postcard I created when I dabbled in selling some. It was fun and therapeutic. #diy#prayerbox#artsandcrafts#fun
