- Cosrx Low Ph Cleanser - If I would have to use one cleanser for the rest of my life this would be it
- Benton Aloe Propolis Gel - I enjoyed using this as thick layer as a mask and it was really nice
- Benton Snail Bee Cream - No No No NO - Benton Honest TT Mist - This was empty in like a week - Mizon Black Snail Cream - The texture was a nightmare and i’m just staying away from snail now
- Missha Time Revolution Ampoule - Another meh product. Yea it was “hydrating“ but other than that it did fuck all
- Innisfree Super Volcanic pore clay mask - Another mediocre clay mask for me
And there we go. I absolutely LOVE the cosrx cleanser but the other products were mostly duds
I post pictures of my routine a lot as a way for me to be comfortable with the amount and types of products I use. I don't switch out products that often because that's expen$ive and my skin doesn't react well to constant switching. But I see photos of pretty packaging and nice flatlays and I want to be like those people. However, just like in academia, I'm trying not to compare myself, my products, and my photos to others. It's a challenge sometimes but I'm working on it.

My favourite Makeup Trend for Day 22 of the #MyBaeChallenge hosted by @jeekee.noona, @smoresandpores and @colebiancardi, is lip tints. I love that I can build colour with a lip tint as most of the time I prefer a more natural colour. Plus I am super lazy and I can never be bothered to reapply lipsticks through the day so I love that the tints are usually long wearing. My current favourite is the #Dior Lip Tattoo in Berry. .
Skincare and makeup: do you already know the @diormakeup #diorsnow line? It’s a whitening and color correcting makeup and skincare line, especially made for the Asian skin types, but now available also in Europe. I tried these two base primers for the correction of dark and grey areas of my face and......wow! I love them!!! They are milky emulsions with a yellow or rose color, which melt completely into the skin after application, so to make it brighter and more luminous, almost whiter, if this makes sense. I use them when I feel my skin a little too tired or in special occasions, when I like my makeup to be excellent! Let me know if you are addicted to these kind of products!
I'm a v sleepy girl pretty much all the time, so last night's routine was super quick bcuz the sleeps we're calling😴
ACWell 5.5 Bubble-Free Cleanser
Vichy Normaderm Anti-Age Moisturizer
100% Pure Super Fruits Eye Balm
Glossier Balm Dotcom
I think this is my last mask in the Oriental series from Lovemore. This is Yurong Scattered Amazing Whitening Sheet Mask. It's supposed to revitalize the skin and brighten it
☁Scent: Light faint smell. Only caught whiff of this shampoo and conditioner from my childhood. .
☁Essence: drenched in serum like essence .
☁Material: thin silk mask .
☁Fit: Same fit as other masks .
☁Time: Supposed to be 10 to 15 minutes. I had it on for 20 minutes as I just didn't want to use it anymore. Mask was still moist .
☁Results/Rambling: Extra essence sunk in quickly and not sticky. Face feel a bit tight but it may be bc of residual effect from cleanser as my skin felt tighter after cleansing. I didn't notice any brightening, only a little bit more moisturized
This also has methylparaben, which can enhance the aging process. So just for this reason I won't repurchase. And the fact that it didn't do much just push it further into the do not buy pile .
[Innisfree] - Orchid Eye Cream
✔️This is the very first time that I ever used an eye cream. And I really love it.
✔️after buying it I immediately started using this eye cream and noticed that my dark circles started to fade after a short period of time
✔️It also has a pleasent flower smell
I've been wanting a jade roller for awhile now, and my want was intensified when @gothamista came out with her jade roller massage video 😝finally was able to get the @chibeautyph one, thanks to the @beautymnl sale!
💚Jade rollers have been around for centuries! They were used in China because of their healing properties.
💚A jade roller can help with skin puffiness, can diminish fine lines, improves blood circulation and help with lymphatic drainage.
💚Aside from those benefits mentions, a jade roller can also help with skincare products deeper into your skin.
💚Tried it tonight and it's soooo relaxing. It does help with absorption of my products. I have a feeling I'll be sleeping like a baby tonight!😴
Will continue to use this over the next couple of days so I can give you guys a full review!
• @tartecosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-hour full coverage foundation (Not my fave formula, it's kinda thick to my liking but the coverage is one of the best I must say!)
• @tartecosmetics Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer (Amazing buttery texture and just perfect shade for me, not ashy nor too red)
• @tartecosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-hours Blush in Concept (I don't find anything to shout about, just seems like regular blush to me, works fine)
• @tartecosmetics Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder (Love the smoothness of powder particles and how it helps to soften appearance of pores)
• @tartecosmetics Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara (Hands down for this!!! I love love love this, the only mascara that sets my lashes apart, give an even coat to the lashes, lengthening, hold the curls, not transfering, volumizing!! What more to ask for a mascara??)
• @urbandecaycosmetics Naked Smoky Palette
• @physiciansformula Natural Nude Shimmer Strips
• @lavielash Define Precision Liquid Eyeliner (One of the best formula, it's legit black, non transfering, waterproof, smudgeproof, bulletproof, and the aplicator is amazing! The only down side is, I always have to wipe the tip with tissue before use because there's too many product to start with, other than that, I L-O-V-E this!)
• @sariayu_mt Duo Lip Color K-07 (Super pigmented, staining, long lasting, non-drying, matte finish)
• @fentybeauty Universal Glass Bomb (Lightweight and plumping!)
Today is the much awaited launch of the new [Klairs] Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask. If you are wondering why you need it? Is it a must have in your routine? On the fence if you need another mask? Well, I got you covered! Head over to reflectionofsanity.com where I wrote in-depth about this mask (clickable blog link in my profile)
🐦Wow. So I want to thank @kbeautysleuth for having a giveaway, that I won, thus allowing me to participate in today’s #maskmadness theme. It was a doozy. Also today’s emoticon is a pickaxe, because charcoal...coal...coal mining. Yeah it’s a stretch.
⛏Day 22 is “Clay/Mud.” I used the @banishacnescars Activated Charcoal Clay Masque.
⛏My first attempt to mix this mask was unsuccessful as my experience with masks of this kind (ie ones that require effort) is limited, and the instructions are literally “Add water, mix into a paste and apply on skin.” My second try I managed to created something that would actually stay on my face, and I’m glad I did.
⛏You can mix this mask to the consistency you want. I might have gone a little too heavy on the charcoal. It claims to help absorb impurities, reduce the look of large pores, absorb excess oils, reduce blemishes and soften skin.
⛏The ingredients list is hella short and pretty awesome. Some standouts include: Italian Green Clay, Activated Charcoal (well I should HOPE), Vitamin C Ester, Blue Green Algae Powder and Tea Tree Leaf oil.
⛏The mask dries quickly and got very tight. It was very easy to remove, and honestly my skin feels so soft and looks clearer. This mask is a definite win even though it requires work from me, which I usually hate. Two 👍 👍.
🎈Maskmadness be hosted by @mapletreeblog, @maskaddict and @miirushop ofc.
State of the Skin 09/2017 + yesterday's FOTD 😂
This was taken yesterday before I left the house. Absolutely no filter but with veeery minimal edits (vignette to hide my surroundings a bit 😅). Minimal makeup, too!
❌ some acne on my t-zone. I broke out last week, idk if it's stress, hormones or something else. Most of them are drying out already
❌ dark circles because of work stress
〰 hyperpigmentation (acne scars) on my cheek, nose and chin. They're gradually fading but dang it's taking such a long time
✔ my breakouts are confined within my T-zone and they're pretty manageable. At least my cheeks are clear
✔ my skin isn't too oily lately because of the weather and my minimized AM routine (to be posted soon)
I also tried the Loveisderma UV Shield SPF50+++ yesterday. It's a tinted sunscreen. As you can see, my face went probably one or two shades lighter after I was done, but my skin tone eventually settled down 15 minutes after this pic was taken. 😊 The sunscreen highlighted my drying chin acne, unfortunately.
Happy weekend, ladies and gents!! 🎉
Here's my working face using the same products for 3 days, to test out products.
1 thing about me, if i want to try new product(s) I will use it for few days or weeks as weather in Malaysia is rapidly changing. Plus my work requires me to do outdoor work most of the time and meeting people around the clock. Makeup is a must as it will leave an impression to my clients. That said, certain product will linger deary on my skin while some will give me skull face. I have a tendency to sweat on my nose and upper lips.
I travel to work by LRT(Subway) and walks under sun almost everyday - sweating is an absolute - and sometime i hit under heavy rain. Humidity is my kryptonite. *picture above had no filters.
*left picture taken from front camera, right picture taken from back camera.
Cushion foundation battle! 🥊
I would like to compare all the cushion foundations I’ve used so far and rank them accordingly as I try them. I have tried 5 cushion foundation formula so far (1 not in photo) and I have brief reviews and rank for them (lowest to highest):
👻: skin type- oily to normal, acne-prone
🎀5th place: The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion (not in photo)
• Very good coverage, covers all imperfections and redness. The shade was too yellow for me. A little obvious that you’re wearing makeup. Finish is matte for me. It’s not drying, but might not be suitable for dry skin.
🎀4th: #laneige BB Pore Control (which I put in the limited edition Milky Way case)
• Good coverage, looks more natural and a little more moisturizing than The Face Shop cushion I tried. Finish is a little matte, and may look a little flat. It doesn’t look cakey though. May still dust a little powder to set it.
🎀3rd: #hera Black Cushion
• Classy packaging. Beautiful matte finish with medium to full coverage. May appear too cakey if set with powder. Lasts a long time, but may look dry by the end of the day. Be sure to moisturize face before using. I still like it very much.
🎀2nd: #sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion
• Natural finish with glow. Compared to the 3 cushions above, this doesn’t appear as “flat” because of the slight dewiness it has. It’s not overly dewy that you look oily, so I still love it. Not drying, a little moisturizing, and may still be suitable for normal to dry skin. This is one of those cushions that I think may work for all skin types. I still finish this with powder.
🎀1st: #yslbeauty Le Cushion Encre De Peau
• 😍😍😍 After a couple of months using, I finally decided that I love this more than my Sulwhasoo! Its finish is super super natural, less matte than Hera, but not as dewy as Sulwhasoo. Just nice! Moisturizing enough, but not oily looking. Perfectly suitable for oily skin. Good coverage and can be buildable without looking overly made up. May still use setting powder and it will not appear cakey. Love this, except for the price 😅 and the puff!!! The puff disintegrates easily haha 😂
Next time I try a new cushion, I will update this ranking! 👍🏻
Super short routine this morning

Day 22 of #maskmadness is Clay/Mud! Thanks to @mapletreeblog @maskaddict and @miirushop for hosting!! 💖 .
🥀 For today's mask, I used the @yestocarrots primRose oil Mud Mask. I have a few #yesto masks that I've slowly been trying to work through, and I thought it'd be a good opportunity to use this one! This mask claims to "calm and soothe skin and redness", which I def needed after being naughty and picking my face. 😰 .
🥀 The first thing I noticed about this mud mask was the pretty pink color. It's just about the same shade of pink as the packaging. It also smelled very strongly of roses, which I surprisingly didn't mind! Usually I'm super sensitive to smells, but the rose smell was kind of soothing in itself. .
🥀 The mud was very creamy and easy to spread on, and there's A LOT in the package. Like seriously enough for 2 people. I'd recommend using this mask during a friend masking sesh so you can be sure to use it all. I slathered a really thick layer on my face and neck, and you can see in pic 3 ⏩ that there's still half a package worth of mud. Talk about bang for your buck! 💥 .
🥀 This mask is a "quickie" mask, with a recommended use time of 5-10 min. I left it on for 10, and it never dried or cracked like my other mud masks. I don't know if it's because I put on such a thick layer or what, but I was impressed! My skin never felt tight because the mud kept its moisture. 💞 .
🥀 Bottom line: this mask did what it said it'd do. It was very soothing to wear, and it didn't suck any moisture out of my skin like some other mud masks I've tried. The smell was pleasant, I loved the consistency, and there's a ton of product for the price. Will definitely be buying again! .
Skincare Diet || Tretinoin treatment taught me that a pared down skincare routine works better for my skin. Not to mention, cheaper and less time consuming; but these are just secondary benefits. I realized a good moisturizer can replace a sleeping mask. And sometimes, a sheetmask could be redundant in your multi-step routine. I've stuck to applying two to three layers of a hydrating toner (like giving the skin a drink) and occluding that with a moisturizer. I just recently added a dose of CosRx Centella Asiatica to my moisturizer to see if it'll help reduce comedones. The jury is still out on that one. My one year love affair with skincare, however, has revealed my three non-negotiables: double cleansing, moisturizing and wearing sunblock. And oh, that a visit to a friendly dermatologist is best paired with a customized skincare routine.
That got me to thinking: What has your skincare journey taught you? Xx, M.

Galactomyces Niacin is a liquid formula containing a pure concentration of 97% galactomyces ferment filtrate and niacinamide that helps your skin’s uppermost layers appear renewed, clarified, and more even. Niacinamide also reduces enlarged, congested pores. But that’s not all: This booster also improves stubborn signs of aging such as dull, uneven skin tone, helps hasten the fading of post-breakout marks, and minimizes the appearance of skin discolorations and wrinkles. And it does this while also helping to preserve skin’s critical moisture barrier for a more supple feel and healthier look. .
HOW NIACINAMIDE HELPS SKIN
Consider adding niacinamide to your routine if you’re dealing with one (or more) of these annoying skin concerns :
- Enlarged pores
- Acne marks
- Uneven skin texture & fine lines
HOW TO USE : After using toner, apply a few drops of essence and gently spread on the skin. It is recommended to use the Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence in the morning and evening:
for dry/very dry skin: 6-7 drops
for normal/oily skin: 4-5 drops
Ingredients: Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Niacinamide, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate.
Price is $38. Enquiries? You can reach me at +673-8977325 (Emy). #koreanbeauty#koreanskincare#koreancosmetics#koreanmakeup#asianskincare#asianbeauty#asianmakeup#asiancosmetic#instabeauty#instaskincare#beautyaddicts#skincareaddict#beauty#skincare#skincarejunkie#beautyjunkie
Here was today's #lipfie 👄used #Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Yu. I always love a good lip pencil. Super easy to use, but I hate sharpening them. This has great staying power though and leaves a stain too! 💄
#EMPTIES : Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel 🐝 (bee emote bc propolis 🙈)
This is probably my 5th empty of this gel, it's been my HG since I first discovered it 2 years ago. The first day I got it, I had this weeping wound on my leg and it just wouldn't dry up. I thought, "hey, this has got aloe and aloe's good for soothing and stuff" so I slathered this thing on the wound before bed and the next day bam! Wound is all soothed and dried up, just needed a little moisturising. This thing's magic ;)
I'll just get straight to it and tell you why this shit's da bomb:
🐝Soothing - great at calming my redness.
🐝A nice lightweight moisturiser for my oily skin.
🐝No scent - perfect for my fragrance-sensitive skin.
🐝Alcohol-free, contains 80% aloe juice, and 10% propolis extract.
▫️At first, it was enough moisture for my oily skin, but lately I have been feeling dehydrated after a bout of irritation and this is sadly not moisturising enough that I feel like I might need to get another moisturiser on top of this- which makes me question if it's worth getting this if I need another moisturiser to complement it, but its soothing abilities make it hard to let go!
▫️Maybe it's because I use it on everything but I feel like I run out of this really quickly, and it's expensive to get locally so it's not so readily available.
🐝Texture: Gel-like (duh), slight sticky feel upon application but dries down really fast.
🐝Price: Local sellers sell it for up to $30 but I personally would not buy it for more than $19 (Yesstyle). But I always look out for the best offers between StyleKorean, Yesstyle, Jolse, and eBay.
🎈Repurchase? Yes! Until I can find something that's as soothing but more moisturising.
Le Chatelard 1802 True Lavander Shampoo
So by now you must know I love flowers and Le Chatelard and I must let you know so far their bathing line has done nothing but please me!
This shampoo has the bestest smell ever - Lavander of course and it also contains lavabder oil which I guess is why I like it so much!
After I came from Russia my hair was damaged, even though I actually took my shampoo, mask, and treatment with me. When I came back I kept using them but my hair kept becoming more ugh!
So I changed only the shampoo - ONLY the shampoo to this one, which has lavander oil. ➡swipe swipe for comparison➡
My hair is fine if I don't brush it but when I do... it looks like the photo in the bottom. After this shampoo came into my life look at how it looks after brushing! I don't even need to braid it to tame it 😍
And this is why I love Le Chatelard 1802 True Lavander shampoo and I would say - especially to people with frizzy hair - if you have a chance then try it!
You can get it in www.lechatelard.co.kr or go to @lechatelard_korea and take it from there ^^ #LeChatelard1802#france#naturalcosmetics#르샤트라1802#프랑스#천연화장품#프로방스#라벤더#천연화장품추천#kbeauty#koreanskincare#koreanbeauty#asianbeauty#koreancosmetics#asianskincare#beauty#cosmetics#화장#뷰티#뷰티스타그램#뷰티템#brightskin#skincarereview#skincareaddict#코덕#seoul#korea
It's not a secret that @narukous is one of my favorite skincare brands, but I was specially pleased with this Better Melon Anti-Shine Purifyin Masks during the summer.
Full review now on the blog, link in bio 🌚
I enjoy using skincare. I like seeing results. I find patting products onto my face to be quite relaxing. But I acknowledge the "dark side" of skincare. Aside from the consumerism and environmental impact, I think there should be more discussion around the sexism behind skincare. Similar to makeup, there is a liberal feminist stance behind skincare. "I do it for myself." "It makes me happy." "Men don't dictate my routine." While those statements can be true, we shouldn't deny the fact that there is an unfair expectation for women to have clear skin and be made up.
There's societal pressure on women to be "presentable", which skincare is largely becoming a part of. Obviously, I'm not above this pressure--I'm running a skincare instagram. And like I said earlier, skincare makes me feel relaxed and happy but I can still acknowledge that the industry can (and does) feed into the idea that women's outer beauty is above all else. This isn't meant to be an attack on the community (everyone's so nice in the ab community 😭) but an examination of cultural habits.

Day 21 of #maskmadness hosted by @maskaddict @mapletreeblog and @miirushop.
Theme : 🌈 Rainbow.
I dont have any colourful mask hence i choose a colour from the rainbow, purple.
Review : Naruko Narcissus DNA Mask.
🌈 This mask is designed for prematurely aging skin. It hydrates, repairs, soothes, cherishes damaged skin and radiates healthy shine.
🌈 Essence : Clear, watery, has a subtle floral scent and dries off matte.
🌈 Notable ingredients : Phytoferulin (11 plant extracts), olive leaf extract, peppermint extract, sodium hyaluronate and essential oil or tangerine.
🌈 Material : Thin and papery, like normal Taiwanese masks. It comes with a plastic backing and tears easily. Adherence and fit are great.
🌈 Usage : After toner, serum and essence. Wore it for 35 mins and still damp.
🌈 After use effect : Hydrated, plump and radiant skin.
🌈 Final verdict : I like this mask! Yaaa it's not my favourite mask from Naruko but still, I like it.
You can never go wrong with Naruko masks 😝.
You can purchase it from Watsons, Hermo, or Naruko website.
