K is for "Kabeji" aka Cabbage in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. And no, 🙃we didn't struggle to find an ingredient that we use that begins with K in English! 😐As we're proudly Nigerian we thought to use the local word🤥 (that's our excuse and we're sticking with it!) 😜

Cabbage is usually called a boring 😴and smelly 😷vegetable but it is an anti inflammatory, anti fungal food and is nutrient packed. It contains substantial amounts of the important minerals such as potassium, iron, folate, sulphur, magnesium, Vitamin C, K, B6 and A, and calcium. Thus making it important for maintaining bone health and strength. 💪🏾 It is also low in saturated fat, cholesterol
Cabbage belongs to the cruciferous family of vegetables and there are hundreds of varieties of it. The red cabbage contains a powerful antioxidant 👊🏾called anthocyanin, which has been shown to help prevent cardiovascular ❤️disease and also slow down the growth of cancer cells 🙌🏾 Cabbage is excellent for weight management as it is rich in 💦 and fiber thus making you feel fuller longer and helping to maintain a healthy digestive tract.👌🏽However portion control is key as eating too much of it in one sitting may cause bloating and gas. 🤢The Cabbage soup diet anyone?? 🚫❌😱It is also low on the glycemic index.

Cabbage is a smart carb.✨ It only contains 33 calories per cup✨. It is very versatile and can be eaten raw, stir fried, steamed or sautéed. 💥It is quite tasty when cooked and seasoned correctly. 😋At Oh So, we use two varieties of Cabbage in our Chops.🥗 #Cabbage #wellnesswednesday #atozoffood

O is for Onions. We love ❤️ our onions as they add so much flavours to food. Onions contain powerful antioxidants which delay or help repair oxidative damage to different cells and tissues in the body. Onions contain allicin, a plant derived nutrient and a killer of various viruses and bacteria. Eating raw onions (pungent😷 but powerful💪🏾) regularly can help boost the immune system.
Onions contain chromium, which assists in regulating blood sugar. They are also used to reduce inflammation and heal infections.
We use onions in a number of our Oh So Chops and as you know chopping onions brings tears of joy to our eyes😭 and our googles come in handy. 😂#wellnesswednesday #onions #atozoffood

P is for Pineapple!! 🍍🍍🍍 Pineapples are rich in bromelain, an enzyme that has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Bromelain is great for healing skin problems, keeping the skin firm and flexible and generally making you look ahmazzzing👸🏾🤴🏾Pineapples are also rich in proteolytic enzymes which break down amino acid bonds in protein. 🍍are helpful in breaking down scar tissue found in blocked tubes and endometriosis tissue. They are also a great digestion aid and powerful food for good gut health 👍👌🏽Pineapples are high in manganese and vitamin C. Though sweet, 🍍impact on blood sugar is low.
As we don't use refined sugar in our products, we add a few chunks of pineapples to some of our smoothies to make your fitfam life just a tad sweeter and tastier😋😉 Sweet fact - pineapples 🍍 are actually tiny individual berries 🍓🍓that group together, then fuse to a core and a central stalk. They consist of multiple fruits so we guess they are "fruits in a fruit" 🤔🤓

Q is for Quinoa. The only food ingredient that you can't pronounce but is actually good enough to eat! 🤔"Queen Noah" "Quinn Wow" "Keen How" the list is endless, those who know, know how it is pronounced. 🤓😜😂 A worthy ingredient to highlight on this #worldveganday

Quinoa is a complete protein containing all nine essential amino acids. It is a whole grain which provides essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which help to regulate the digestive system and to keep you feeling full. It has a high fiber content which helps to reduce health conditions such as constipation and hemorrhoids.
One cup of cooked quinoa contains almost one third of the recommended daily allowance of manganese. It is gluten free and low in calories. It is very versatile 👊🏾and is used in vegan meals e.g. Burgers, falafel, pizza, brownies. Most importantly, it helps some of us fitfamers still stay firmly in the jollof camp🙌🏾👏🏿🙌🏾 We take full advantage of this versatile ingredient in our Chops and granola. 😀👌🏽🍴#atozoffood #quinoa #keenwah 😉
