So begins a week of early morning starts for the Annoyance Intensive (can you tell by this picture how unaccustomed I am to early mornings). I had a fun week off improv workshops where I got to just be a tourist. I'm more beard than face (I miss my face, I don't even remember what it looks like ☹️). But I am ready for another intense week of learning from some of the best! #ImprovExcursion#AnnoyanceIntensive
This scene that I did with Julia is what I'm most proud of in my entire improv journey. When I came to the US I had very clear goals for what I wanted to improve in terms of my improv scenework. It showed that my hard work was starting to pay off. Here we were split into pairs and given 10 minutes to do a show for our class, any form or style that we wished to do. Our suggestion was "Safe Sex" (anyone that has seen me perform in Melbourne could attest to the fact that I can lack tact and sensitivity when dealing with blue humour) and I knew that this was my chance to work on playing more vulnerable. We ended up doing one scene of about 9 and a half minutes followed by a 30 second sting to wrap it up. Our show involved two teenagers preparing to have sex for the first time and explored themes of teenage popularity, insecurity, expectations, failure, and coming-of-age. It was a beautiful show that also managed to be hilarious. It felt like a turning point for me. I just would like to thank Julia for a show that I will always remember. 🐶
Less than 24 hours before I can't have a plane out of Hobart... Yeah I'm starting to freak out a little.
Had a great (and kind of exhausting) couple of weeks saying goodbye to people and socialising. Thanks and I'll see you all again in the new year ❤️
If you have the opportunity to see a Hans Zimmer show, do yourself a favor and go. It will last in your memory for ever. Absolutely amazing and this is the second time this year I've seen this genius perform.
