We don’t get many rainy days this time of year (like once in a summer), so I have thoroughly enjoyed this one ☔️... audio book plus sewing machine plus tea 👌🏼☺️
And I’m sure the garden is most grateful
I’m in the midst of a #knitterscrisis this morning! Left my nearly finished #WIP in hubbys car (now at work) and have niece enjoying a holiday sleep in in the yarn cave! So I have ‘lounge yarn’ on hand that needs swatching but no needles 😩 Options are: 1. Drive to yarn store and leave teenager asleep (not going to go down well with mother or authorities) 2. Drive to hubbys work to get wip (same issues as above plus the mortification of hubby as I circle the car park looking for my knitting) 3. Awaken sleeping teen (well I AM desperate) or option 4. Do housework. Suggestions?!?! #knittingfail#wtf#loungeyarn#knittingneedles
Winter hats for my two, done and dusted; my first FOs for 2018. Weird to have finished them on a day about as far from winter as possible - 38°C(100F). The pattern for both is the #littlefairislehat , but obviously I've only used the stitch counts for the pink hat. I was not going to ruin yet another perfectly pink hat with that pesky colourwork, no way. Oh, and I added a pompom, of course.
MC yarn is @littleyellowcat in Warm Blue. CC is @hedgehogfibres in Skinny Dip.
Pink hat yarn is @littleyellowcat in Quince Jelly.
Sweet Burleigh Heads.
Probably the last trip away before we are confined to the convention of school, as my oldest starts prep this year. Prep. Sigh.
I can't even think about it. Excited for him, and my heart breaking at the same time. The conundrum of parenthood.
Anyways, swipe to see what you get when you ask for a nice photo 😂. Crazy, the pair of them.
First adventure for 2018. My adventures used to involve a lot more scrambling, more exertion, and were much, much further from home. However, with little feet accompanying me on adventure now (mostly needing to be carried), I'm a lot more grateful for a day trip hike with a boardwalk. Even one partially washed away after a recent freak storm.
Happy Holidays! I hope you’ve all had a lovely festive season, if you celebrate it. We had a quiet weekend by the beach, I made a lot of progress on my #zweigsweater , and I received this beautiful sweater project bag for Christmas from my family, which I had custom made by the lovely @totesagogo.
Swipe left to see the progress of my Zweig - I’ve just separated the sleeves from the body, and started working on the body pattern. *
#thedollshouseproject is ready for the big reveal. While my daughter naps, we've been setting up. Now we're busting for her to wake up!
This dolls house was second hand, repaired and painted by my parents. They repaired original furniture, made new pieces from recycled goods and timbers and found items at secondhand (thrift) stores. The house then came to me for soft furnishings and decorations.
This house already has many stories to tell, from the wooden puzzle with missing pieces (made into the bunk bed and covered with felt to make food), to the art painted by my son; the recycled skirts and muslins to make sheets and towels, and the cream vintage doily crocheted by my grandmother (the rug in the bunk room) to the little vintage dolls within it - mine from 30+ years ago, Strawberry Shortcake and two friends, given new sewn and knitted clothes (made by me. Tiny clothes? Intense). The tiny wooden calculator, sawn and painted by her dad (he's an accountant, so it's a very fitting addition from him!!) to the gardens painted on both sides by my mum; the wooden castanet made into a sandwich press in the kitchen, to the original toilet being given a new hinged lid. This was so much fun, and already we have plans for more making to add to it, but currently it is as it needs to be. She got a couple of new items to add to it, like the little playmobil farm given by her brother for Christmas to compliment the house, but mostly this house is full of items that have been pre loved.
